[9/9/03]After eight straight losses, the Porters Chapel Lady Eagles defeated rival Deer Creek on Monday night.
Lauren Johnson struck out a career-high 10 batters and had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs as the Lady Eagles (16-5) avenged a pair of losses to Deer Creek on Saturday.
“We went out with the mentality that we were tired of losing to Deer Creek,” said PCA coach Kevin Griffin, whose team will play Central Hinds Academy in a senior-day doubleheader today starting at 4:30 p.m.
Allison Horn led Porters Chapel with three hits and an RBI as the Lady Eagles erased a 1-0 deficit with a five-run fourth inning. PCA added a pair of runs in the fifth. Deer Creek scored three in the bottom of the fifth, but got no closer.
