Lillie Crawford

Services for Lillie Crawford will be at 11 a.m. Monday at King David No. 1 M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Monday until the service. Mrs. Crawford died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 95.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Crawford was on the mother board at King David No. 1 M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Crawford; 11 brothers, Issac Hall, James Hall, Robert Hall III, Jack Hall, Peter Hall, Richard Hall, George Hall, Joseph Hall, Jessie Hall, Roosevelt Hall and Roosevelt Hall II; and three sisters, Mary Hall, Louise Baker and Margaret H. Daniels.

Survivors include a son, E.J. Crawford of Vicksburg; five brothers, Doc Hall and Sammie Hall, both of Vicksburg, A.D. Hall of Metcalf, Miss., Jimmy D. Hall of Belzoni, Miss., and Daniel Hall of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Rosie Cole of Greenville and Pinkey Brown of Saginaw, Mich.; two grandchildren; and other relatives, including Jean Crawford and Candi Crawford, both of Vicksburg.

Bertha Mae Glover Matthews

TALLULAH Bertha Mae Glover Matthews died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at her home. She was 71.

Born in Elgin, Texas, Mrs. Matthews had lived in Madison Parish for the past 28 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Johnie Livingston Matthews Jr. of Tallulah; three sons, Nathaniel L. Matthews Sr. and Johnie L. Matthews III, both of Tallulah, and Robert E. Matthews of Delhi; a sister, Doris Glover Fontaine of Quincy, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, Miss. 39213.

Elsie Clifton Strong

RIDGELAND, Miss. Elsie Clifton Strong died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Miss. She was 82.

A former resident of Jackson and Utica, Mrs. Strong was a retired adjudicator at the Veteran Adminstration Regional Office in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Strong; and her parents, Robert Boyd and Edna McGlathery Clifton.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Robert C. Strong of Jackson and Dr. James E. Strong Jr. of Madison, Miss.; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bear Creek Methodist Protestant Church in the Bear Creek Community with the Rev. Billy Gerald officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
