Anna Mae Crosby

Anna Mae Crosby died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 91.

Mrs. Crosby was born in Sharkey County and was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Harlen and Cecil Crosby.

She is survived by a son, Tom Crosby of Canton, Texas; a daughter, Ann Harlen Cook of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Cecile Cockrell of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jim Ferguson, Junius Williams, Bill Collins, G.T. “Red” Dowdy, Herbert Stroud, Percy Worley and Talmadge Steed.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Heritage House and Dr. Lee Giffin.

Elaine Mae Gray

Elaine Mae Gray died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Gray was born in Saginaw, Mich., and had lived in Vicksburg since July. She was a member of the Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Mae LaCrone Strebel.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Flowers of Vicksburg and Pamela Brandel of Saginaw; a son, Charles Pritchard of Omer, Mich.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Janice Bernard.

Services will be under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1193, Vicksburg, MS 39181.

Andrew James Harris

Andrew James “Sonny” Harris died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 52.

Mr. Harris was a member of Traveler’s Rest M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew James Robinson; and his maternal grandparents, Roosevelt Patterson Sr. and Zadie Gaines Patterson.

He is survived by his mother, Bertha M. Harris of Vicksburg; an uncle, James Patterson of Vicksburg; eight aunts, Shirley Green of Fayette, Rosie Lee Fells of Gulfport, Lula Mae Wilson of Shreveport, Annette Cruell, Viola Jones and Carlee Harried-Waites, all of New Orleans, and Juanita Brown and Azel Hutchians, both of Chicago.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mary Louise Love

Mary Louise Love died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 71.

Mrs. Love was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Reed; two sons, David Lee Love and Julius Love; two brothers, L.C. Love and Tony Hatton; two sisters, Willie B. Love and Freddie Mae Hatton; and her parents, Julius Love and Lena Mae Galloway Hatton.

She is survived by two sons, Michael James Reed and Eugene A. Love, both of Vicksburg; six daughters, Diane Williams, Mary Love, Catherine Love Turner, Irma L. Love, Debra Ann Love and Monica Denise Love, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Henry Hatton of Vicksburg; two sisters, Willie Dean Hatton and Betty Joe Oby, both of Baton Rouge; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Herman Albert Lynch

Herman Albert Lynch died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 60.

Mr. Lynch was a native of Hattiesburg and had lived in Vicksburg for 25 years. He had served in the Navy and was a laborer with a pallet company in Florence.

He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Charity Jane Ethel Morgan Lynch; and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Lula D. Lynch of Florence; a son, Steve Lynch of North Carolina; a daughter, Judy Marie O’Berry of Pearl River, La,; a sister, Alice Mae Jones of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Chester F. McNair

SONDHEIMER, La. Chester F. McNair died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at his home in Sondheimer. He was 82.

Mr. McNair was born in McComb and lived in Sondheimer for six years. He was retired from the Army and a was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was also a retired welder and a member of the Church of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He is survived by a son, Donald R. McNair of Gretna, La.; a daughter, Brenda McNair Wilson of Sondheimer; three sisters, Ruth Cope and Mary Nell McNair, both of Wichita, Kan., and Dola Christensen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Castilaw officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Street, Jimmy Street, Jerry Street, Joe Marsh, Michael Wilson and Chuck Wilson.
