Rebecca Mai Skinner Fitzgerald

COLUMBIA, Tenn. Rebecca Mai Skinner Fitzgerald died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn. She was 88.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a native of Williamson County in Tennessee and was a resident of the Rally Hill community. A homemaker, she was a member of Brown’s Chapel Church of Christ for 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Sally Hinson Skinner; her husband, Calvin Felix Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Thomas Skinner and Oliver Skinner.
Survivors include five daughters, Ann Stanfill and Elaine McGee, both of Columbia, Jean Ethridge of Vicksburg, Reba Parker of Jemison, Ala., and Estelle Wyatt of Slidell, La.; two sons, Calvin Fitzgerald and Roger Fitzgerald, both of Columbia; one sister, Carlene Smithson of Franklin, Tenn.; one brother, Doris Skinner of Franklin; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Danny McConnell and Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Hardison Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Stanfill, Rickey Parker, Ray Parker, Sam Fitzgerald, Tommy Fitzgerald and James Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Cammuse and members of Brown’s Chapel Church of Christ.
Verdell Glover
OAK GROVE Verdell Glover died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at North Monroe Hospital in Monroe, La. She was 67.
A resident of Oak Grove, Mrs. Glover was a West Carroll Parish native.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Mattie Stoffer Aaron, and a brother, Luther Aaron.
She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Glover of Oak Grove; four daughters, Mickey Gathings, Cindy Eubanks, Jerry Holt and Shirlene Putman, all of Oak Grove; a stepson, Robert Morgan of Oak Grove; two sisters, Lavelle Patrick and Leona Frith, both of Oak Grove; one brother, Bobby Aaron of Oak Grove; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at Hill Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Leslie Yates and Robert Patrick officiating. Burial followed at Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Luke Patrick, Robert Patrick, Randy Aaron, Roger Boutwell, Toney Martin and Ronnie Garrett.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Beard, Johnny Taylor, Robert Morgan and Jerry Coulter.
Mary Lucille Oliphant
Mary Lucille Oliphant died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 92.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Oliphant was the daughter of the late William and Dennie Lott Harwell. She was a cashier for the Vicksburg Coffee Shop before retiring in 1965.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Releford Oliphant; and a sister, Dennie Koerper.
Survivors include a sister, Nina Mae Gilbert of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Nation, pastor of the Church of the Holy Trinity, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until the service at the funeral home.
Alfred L. Washington
Alfred L. Washington, formerly of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in West Roxbury, Mass. He was 77.
Mr. Washington was a Navy veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the William E. Carter American Legion Post No. 16, Mattapan.
He is survived by his wife, F. Louise Jackson Washington of West Roxbury; three sons, Alex D. Washington of Londonderry, N.H., and Alfred D. Washington and Allen D. Washington, both of West Roxbury; a daughter, Angela Washington Dawson of Plantation, Fla.; three grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at John P. Hearn Funeral Home in Roslindale, Mass. Private burial will follow.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home.
