Louis Hollie

Louis Hollie died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Hollie moved to Vicksburg in 1997 after living in Chicago for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Annie B. Hollie.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Hollie of Vicksburg; two sons, Larry Hollie and Darrell Hollie, both of Chicago; four daughters, Phyllis Hollie, Vanessa Anthony Rogers, Regina Hollie and Shirley Hollie, all of Chicago; three stepchildren, Kelvin Irving of Edwards, Carla Forte of Vicksburg and Norma King of Horn Lake; two sisters, Elizabeth Kershaw of Chicago and Sarah Wigfall of Portageville, Mo.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Samuel Lewis of Little Rock, Calif.
Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Services and burial will be at a later date in Chicago.
Rosie Lee Johnson
ROLLING FORK Rosie Lee Johnson died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 73.
Miss Johnson was a resident of Nitta Yuma, before moving to Rolling Fork.
Services will be at noon Sunday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Cameta Cemetery in Cameta, Miss.
Thomas J. Miles
Thomas J. Miles died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
Mr. Miles was born in Kingston, N.Y., and attended Kingston High School. He graduated from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
He served in the Air Force as a navigator on C-124 transports out of Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for four years. He taught in the Caesar Rodney School District in Dover and later worked for 12 years for Raw Radio Stations Inc. as sales manager and general manager of WDOV-AM and WDSD-FM. He also was employed by WSEA-AM in Seaford, Del., and the Delaware State News in Dover. After retirement, he moved to Vicksburg where he owned Adolph Rose Antiques.
Mr. Miles was a member and former president of the New York Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Union College. He had also served as president of the Dover Jaycees and the Maryland/DC/Delaware Broadcasters Association. He was a member of the Dover Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International and the National Association of Broadcasters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Miles, and his mother, Helen Sass Miles.
Mr. Miles is survived by his wife, Marjorie Miles of Vicksburg; a son, Michael Miles of Dover; a sister, Pat Burns of Hurley, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Lisa Alexander of Camden, Del., and Stacy Hollen of Middletown, Del.; three stepgrandchildren; and two nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kingston. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery under the direction of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home in Kingston.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Kingston.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 713 Crawford St., Vicksburg, MS.
Fisher Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
Lona A. Nicholson
ROLLING FORK Lona A. Nicholson died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 73.
A native of Catching, Miss., Miss Nicholson had been a Rolling Fork resident since 1946. She owned Nick Flying Services and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a former president of the Mississippi Women Agricultural Association and national director for Mississippi in NAAA. She was named Woman of the Year by NAAA and M.A.M.
Miss Nicholson had been a secretary for the Booster Club at Sharkey-Issaquena Academy and was a former Brownie Scout leader.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Dew of Rolling Fork; four brothers, Ira “Bud” Anthony of Indianola, Miss., George Anthony and David Anthony, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stanley Anthony of Greenville; three sisters, Dot Hendon of Indianola, Mattie Parker of New Albany, Miss., and Freda Hartness of Clinton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Revs. Millard L. Caulder and James Millner officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wyatt, Hampton Jacks, Tommy Williams, Dennis Anthony, Roger Anthony and Marshall Hogue.
Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Gore, Joe Hicks, Curtis Tircuit, W.E. Patterson Jr. and Laurence Carter.
