Thomas Barnes Jr.
Thomas “Tee-Tom” Barnes Jr. died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.
A retired farmer in Rolling Fork, he was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Davis Barnes; his parents, Thomas Barnes Sr. and Alice Ellis Barnes; a son, William Shelly; two daughters, Alberta Rowiter and Christine Myles; three sisters, Carrie Bell Hall, Frances M. Johnson and Maggie L. Burns.
Mr. Barnes is survived by a son, Thomas Barnes III of Valley Park; a daughter, Retha Davis of Cary; two brothers, Jimel “Bobby” Barnes of Clinton and Leroy Barnes of Edwards; four sisters, Mattie Hill and Judy Going, both of Detroit, Annie Willis of Vicksburg and Katie Joseph of New Orleans; and other relatives.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Onward with the Rev. Timothy Matthews officiating.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Ettee Miller
Ettee Miller died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.
Mrs. Miller was a member of Mount Eden M.B. Church in Valley Park, where she was on the usher board. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Miller; her parents, Jonas Hughes and Emma Simpson Hughes; two brothers, Woodrow Hughes and Johnny Joe Hughes; and two sisters, Ethel Woods and Mary Clanton.
She is survived by three sons, James Miller Jr. and Jonas Miller, both of Kountze, Texas, and George Miller of Silzby, Texas; five daughters, Ruby Moore of Vicksburg, Jamie Miller of Seatac, Wash., and Arlen Miller, Paula Davis and Gracie Miller, all of Tukwila, Wash; and other relatives.
Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
