Carlleen Millis Irby

Carlleen Millis Irby died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 49.

Mrs. Irby was a native of Panama City, Fla., and had lived in Vicksburg for 24 years. She was a 1971 graduate of Warren Central High School and attended Hinds Junior College, Millsaps College and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she graduated in 1977.

She taught at Warren Central High School for 20 years and was named Warren Central Star Teacher 2000-2001. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by a daughter, Cristen Irby, and her maternal grandparents, A.I. and Pincie Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, Edward “Buddy” Irby of Vicksburg; one son, Nathan E. Irby of Vicksburg; one daughter, Erin J. Irby of Brookhaven; her parents, Carl and Verniece Millis of Panama City; two brothers, Clark Millis of Joplin, Mo., and Charles Millis of Crestline, Calif.; her grandparents, George and Stella Hill of Panama City; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hullum, Archie Anderson, Curtis Buford, Ricky Griffith, Curry Meeks and Jimmy Conway.

Services for Mary McCann Shelton will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home and from noon Friday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Shelton died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Shelton was the daughter of the late Ernal and Ethel Foster McCann. She was a native of Rarden, Ohio, and had lived in Vicksburg since 1980.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Linder, and two brothers, Ford McCann and Cliff McCann.

She is survived by her husband, John Shelton; a daughter, Terry Welch of Vicksburg; three brothers, Robert McCann of Portsmouth, Ohio, James McCann of Morrow, Ohio, and Thomas McCann of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Welch, Joshua Welch, Rick Curry, Dr. Anthony Bednar, Mike Linder and John Kirk.
