Wendell O’Brian Pate
LAKE PROVIDENCE Wendell O’Brian Pate died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004. He was 41.
Born in Delhi, Mr. Pate was a resident of Lake Providence.
He is survived by his father, William Glynn Pate Sr. of Lake Providence; his mother and stepfather, Judy Ann and Bill Harris of Tallulah; a brother, William Glynn “Sambo” Pate Jr. of Delhi; and three stepbrothers, Allen B. Harris of Garfield, Ark., and William J. Harris and Jerry Wayne Harris, both of Tallulah.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home of Delhi with the Rev. Eddie Fuller officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Pallbearers were Shelton Parker, William Perry, Kevin Corley, Jon Davis, David Ford and Joey Pruitt.
Martha L. Sanders
Martha L. Sanders died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Claiborne County Nursing Home in Port Gibson. She was 72.
A native of Newellton, Mrs. Sanders lived in Vicksburg for 33 years. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar E. and F. Alice Lewis, and two brothers, Bobby G. Lewis and Edward F. Lewis.
Survivors include her husband, Williams E. Sanders of Vicksburg; three sons, William L. Sanders of Vicksburg, Michael E. Sanders of Pittsboro, Miss., and Gerald W. Sanders of Fishers, Ind.; two daughters, Alice S. Carroll of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Rebecca S. Pereverzoff of Akron, Pa.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Dougherty, Paul Pereverzoff, Joey Smith, Ricky Williams, John Williams and James Williams.
William Arden Southall Jr.
DELHI, La. William Arden Southall Jr. died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004. He was 80.
Mr. Southall was born in Mangham, La.,, and was a resident of Delhi. He graduated from Delhi High School and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, who attained the rank of sergeant.
He owned and operated Southall’s Grocery in Warden. He was a retired postmaster of Warden and ran a family farming operation. He was a longtime member of Epps Baptist Church.
Mr. Southall was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. Southall Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Eubanks Southall.
He is survived by a son, Michael Arden Southall of Delhi; a daughter, Judy Lynn Stewart of Clinton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 today at Epps Baptist Church with the Revs. Pat Lofton and Lee Piercy officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Visitation will be until the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Todd Southall, Brandon Scott Southall, Christopher D. Malone, Jerry Jay Simms, Donald Gwin, Donald “Hoot” Green and Hugh Green.
