Ann T. Carter

TALLULAH Ann T. Carter died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe, La. She was 73.

Born in Monticello, La., Mrs. Carter had lived in Madison Parish since 1969 and was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, Miles H. Carter of Tallulah; a son, Billy Mitchell Jr. of Newellton; two daughters, Margaret Richardson of Tallulah and Cheryl Simpson of St. Joseph; a brother, Ed Lake of Mobile, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating.

Marie Mitchell Crow

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Marie Mitchell Crow died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in Huntsville, Ala. She was 79.

Born in Meridian, Mrs. Crow was a former Vicksburg resident before moving to Huntsville in 1956. She was a former buyer, franchise trainer and sales manager in the women’s apparel industry. She served on the Altar Guild and formed “Project Discovery” at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Clifford Crow; her parents, Michael John and Carrie Watfa Mitchell; two brothers, Ellis Mitchell and Joe Mitchell; and a sister, Ruth Mitchell Massad.

Survivors include two daughters, Robbie Crow Shafer and Pricilla Crow Crabtree, both of Huntsville; two brothers, George Mitchell of Vicksburg and Paul Mitchell of Jackson; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville under the direction of Laughlin-Service Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.

Bernyce Monroe Harvey

OAK GROVE Bernyce Monroe “Sissy” Harvey died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Oak Grove. She was 93.

Mrs. Harvey was an Oak Grove native. She was a retired medical technologist and school teacher.

She graduated in 1927 from Oak Grove High School and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha at Louisiana Tech University. After graduation, she was awarded the annual graduate scholarship to Louisiana State University and was a member of Gamma Epsilon honorary fraternity.

Mrs. Harvey was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the Signal Intelligence Corps in the Southwest Pacific area of New Guinea and the Philippines. She moved with her husband to Galveston, Texas, where she was a medical technologist at John Sealy Hospital. She returned to Oak Grove after retirement.

Mrs. Harvey was a member of Grace Episcopal Church of Lake Providence, Gen. William Carroll Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Francis Billingsley Chapter. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Thomas Tyson Post in Oak Grove; the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star Guiding Star No. 66, Order of the Amaranth, Pink Ladies hospital auxiliary and the National Rifle Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Louisa Koerner Monroe; two brothers, Murrell Koerner Monroe and Herman “H.T.” Monroe; and her husbands, John Fridge, Dr. Roy Emken and Pat Harvey.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Lorraine Barnett Monroe of Oak Grove, and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Jimmie Herring officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be until 9 tonight and before the service on Friday.

Bird Elise Hunt

Bird Elise “Beesey” Hunt died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 93.

Born in Warren County, Mrs. Hunt was the daughter of the late Edgar T. and Rebecca Elizabeth McCraine Birdsong. She was a former agent with Life & Casualty Insurance Co. and was dietitian at Grove Street School for a number of years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Allein Bible class and Dorcas Circle.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. “Bill” Hunt; a sister, Margaret Sturgis; and two brothers, E.T. Birdsong Jr. and David Reed Birdsong.

She is survived by a daughter, Patsy H. Halford of Vicksburg; a son, the Rev. William “Bill” Hunt Jr. of Greenville, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Lee Williams

Dorothy Lee Williams died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 68.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Williams was a nurse’s aide at the former Hinds General Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, O’Neil Williams of Edwards; three daughters, Betty Johns and Onetta W. Samuel, both of Jackson, and Bonita Williams of Edwards; and four sons, O’Neil Williams Jr. of California and Jerry Williams, Christopher Williams and Derrick Williams, all of Edwards.

Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
