Jessie Davenport
Services for Jessie Davenport will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Union M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. Sunday until the service at the church.
Mr. Davenport died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. He was 79.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Betty Davenport; one brother, E.G. Davenport, and two sisters, Laura Turner and Martha Wiggins.
He is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Marie Davenport of Frankfort, Germany; Azzie Strong and Lula Davenport, both of Vicksburg; the Martin and Flowers families of Utica and the Turner family of Vicksburg.
Richard J. Howell
Richard J. “Ricky” Howell died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 44.
A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Howell was an installer for Dish Network TV Co. for 10 years. He attended Redwood Elementary and Warren Central High School.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert William Howell and Donald Mitchell Howell.
Survivors include a son, Richard J. “Rich” Howell Jr. of Vicksburg; a daughter, Rachel Victoria “Vicky” Howell of Vicksburg; his parents, R.J. and Earline Howell of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Nan Howell of Vicksburg and Kathie Cooper of Colorado City, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie O’Quin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joey Hearn, Hugh Guest, Howard Johnson, Ken Jarrell, Miles Henley and Andy McCarley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tanya Hearn, Susan Johnson and Cindy Guest.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, No. 3 Forest Hill Circle, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
Gabrielle Kristine Hoxie
Gabrielle Kristine Hoxie, infant daughter of Bill and Penny Moffett Hoxie of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Woman’s Hospital in Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Ryan Hoxie of Vicksburg; her maternal grandparents, Tony and Sarah Moffett of Vicksburg; her paternal grandparents, Elizabeth Hoxie Stillwell, Jimmy Stillwell and Rip and Susan Hoxie, all of Jackson; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until the service at Riles Funeral Home.
Kenneth L. Jones
EDWARDS Services for Kenneth L. Jones will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at his home in Edwards. He was 33.
He was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Jones; his grandparents, Willie and Margaret Jones Harris; and a brother, Julius Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Vinetta Thompson Jones of Edwards; three daughters, Allison Thompson and Keneisha Jones, both of Edwards, and Kendra M. Newton of Vicksburg; two sons, Kenneth Jones Jr. of Edwards and Kenneth Bland of Madison; five sisters, Carla Jones and Sharon King, both of Vicksburg, Jackie McCall and Tonya Johnson, both of Muskegan Heights, Mich., and Marita Smith of Edwards; five brothers, Clifton Johnson, Arnold Johnson and Zackary Johnson, all of Muskegan Heights, Oscar Jones of Jackson and Patrick Mack Sr. of Edwards; his grandmothers, Hazel Harris of Vicksburg, Jennie Mae Lighter of Utica and Ethel Carter of Edwards; and other relatives and friends.
Sylvia Maxine Moore Mayo
DALLAS Services for Sylvia Maxine Moore Mayo, formerly of Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warrenton Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.
Mrs. Mayo died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Dallas. She was 43.
Mrs. Mayo was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Annie Lou Eastman.
Survivors include her husband, David Mayo of Dallas; two stepsons, David Mayo Jr. and Davion Mayo, both of Dallas; her parents, Robert and Rutha Maxine Eastman of Vicksburg and Charles Lakes; four sisters, Shelia Eastman Small of Garland, Texas, Elizabeth Eastman Stewart of Rockwell, Texas, Lavette Eastman of Newark, Del., and Chandra Eastman Hinkle of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Robert Eastman Jr. of Vicksburg and Curtis Eastman of Wilmington, Del.; her maternal grandmother, Jim Ella Williams of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Edna Williams and the Eastman, Cosey and Williams families of Vicksburg and Delaware.
