Wilbur Lee Anderson

Services for Wilbur Lee Anderson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Living Word Baptist Church with the Rev. Stevie C. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at his home. He was 34.

He was a resident of Vicksburg and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Anderson; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Maggie Hill Powell.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Powell Anderson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Aaron Harris of Atlanta, Ga., and Lawrence Harris of Vicksburg; five sisters, Barbara Evans, Joyce Harris and Dorothy Harris, all of Vicksburg, Debra Burnett of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Charolette Jones of Garland, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Master Sgt. Bob Dwane Mikell

DELHI Master Sgt. Bob Dwane Mikell died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at his home in Delhi. He was 70.

Master Sgt. Mikell was retired from the Army, having served as a supply sergeant in Korea and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Clara Mikell.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Erna Mikell of Delhi; a son, Robert Mikell of Philadelphia, Miss.; and a daughter, Patricia Lynn Mikell-Rudd of Delhi.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Revs. Steve Hillman and Tony Smith officiating. Burial followed at Faith Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were members of the VFW.

Buren Thomas Ruth

Buren Thomas “B.T.” Ruth died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 86.

Born in Houlka, Miss., Mr. Ruth had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 61 years. He was the son of the late A.D. and Edna Thomas Ruth. He was employed as a timber buyer at Kings Stave Company from 1944 until 1952 and as mill manager and timber buyer at Vicksburg Hardwood Company from 1952 until 1970.

Mr. Ruth was a member of the W.G. Paxton Masonic Lodge. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Northside and Trinity Baptist churches and was a member and deacon of Highland Baptist Church for the past 36 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Cockrell Ruth; a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Ruth; three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Dean Ruth Haver of Duncanville, Texas, and Evelyn Ruth Bilbo of Atmore, Ala.; two sisters, Lavelle R. Haggard of Mobile and Velma R. Hooks of Louisville, Miss.; a brother, Charles Ruth of Longview, Wash.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert D. Haver, Randy D. Haver, David L. Bilbo, Blayne Chastain, Chris R. Clark, Dan Tipton, Lonnie Wooley and Joe O’Quin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob White, the Rev. James Messer and Drs. Bill Wooten, Vish Shenoy and John C. Williams.
