Tanya Marie McNease

OAK GROVE Tanya Marie McNease died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, La. She was 26.

Mrs. McNease was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and lived in Oak Grove.

She is survived by her husband, George Arthur McNease; three sons, George Michael McNease, Henry Ray McNease and Christopher Daniel McNease; her parents, Elbert Ray and Barbara Sue Copes of Oak Grove; and one brother, Ray Copes Jr. of Oak Grove.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Chapel-Oak Grove with the Rev. Keith Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Reeks Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until the service Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Richie Peoples, Jeffery Baxter, David Pickron, Mitchell Dye, Scotty Seamans and Mark McKinley.

James O. Rodgers

YAZOO CITY James O. Rodgers died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his home. He was 69.

Mr. Rodgers was born in Vicksburg and lived in Yazoo City. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Shortcreek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel Rodgers; three sons, James Wayne Rodgers, Everett Franklin Rodgers and Wesley Eugene Rodgers, all of Yazoo City; four daughters, Margie Ann Shiers, Marylynn Walton, Mona Lee Shiers and Melisa Michelle Caston, all of Yazoo City; one sister, Christine Cousins of Vicksburg; two half-sisters, Mozelle Barnes of Arizona and Grace Galligher of Yazoo City; one half-brother, Jessie Lee Rodgers of Yazoo City; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Benton Baptist cemetery in Benton.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Monday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Cousins, Pooh Bear Shiers, Tinker Shiers, Cooter Rodgers, Jeremy Shiers, Cupcake Shiers, Little James Shiers and Robert Rodgers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Leach, Bennie Shiers, Leon Nevels and Jimmy Nevels.

Mary Kathleen Smith

FOREST Mary Kathleen Smith died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at North Monroe Hospital in Monroe. She was 81.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lexington, Texas, and lived in Sterlington, La.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe I. Smith; her parents, Robert Crawford and Mary Nunley Woodward; three brothers, Herschel Woodward, Homer Woodward and Virgil Woodward; and two sisters, Bobbie Jean Lively and Charlotte Ersell Woodward.

She is survived by two sons, Gary L. Smith and Sidney Smith, both of Monroe; two daughters, Mary Jo Mowrey of Porter, Texas, and Linda Wheeler of Sterlington; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cox Chapel-Oak Grove with the Rev. Norman Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Powell, James Maxwell, Jerry Hughes, Tim Ross, Shelby Hughes and Travis Hughes.

Charles Michael Taylor

OAK GROVE Charles Michael “Mickey” Taylor died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at St. Charles Parish Hospital. He was 54.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his father, Lemuel John Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Taylor; one son, Brennon Taylor of Luling; one daughter, Tiffanie Breanna Taylor of Luling; his stepfather and mother, Prentis and Mary Ruth Allred of Oak Grove; one brother, Glenn “Dick” Taylor of Shreveport.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cox Chapel-Oak Grove with the Rev. Jimmy Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Corner Cemetery in Forest.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until the service.

Pallbearers will be Harold Rigdon, Dustin Jones, Paul Barothy, Jimmy Hicks, Billy Sanders and Regan Wilkerson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Gorum and Will Gorum.
