Lincoln Adams

Lincoln Adams died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 78.

Born in Tallulah, Mr. Adams was retired from Miller Construction. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of St. John Lodge No. 181 F&AM and Mount Calvary M.B. Church on East Avenue.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Blackmore Adams; his parents, Clay Sr. and Matha Taylor Adams; and a brother, Clay Adams Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Joan D. Adams of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Gwendolyn B. Jones of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a stepson, Richard E. Blackmore of Ennis, Texas; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mary E. Conner

Services for Mary E. “Big Dale” Conner were at 1 p.m. today at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Miss Conner died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.

A resident of Vicksburg, she was a retired bartender and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Conner and Bertha Whaley; and a sister, Patricia Ann Ailes.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Dart of Oklahoma, Neb., and Maurice Ailes and Johnny Ailes, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Mary L. Conner and Brandy Nicole Ailes, both of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Coleman, Lyons and Mobley families.

Neoma Ann Hill

OAK GROVE Neoma Ann Hill died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Carroll Nursing Home. She was 56.

Mrs. Hill was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Hill; her parents, Bruce Edward Pullin and Mattie Estelle Pullin; her stepmother, Nancy Wiley Pullin; and her grandmother, Elsie N. Pullin.

Survivors include a son, James Kevin Hill; a daughter, Wendy Lynn Hester; three sisters, Lynda Thiels, Linda West and Susan Morgan; and two brothers, Tommy Pullin and Stanley Pullin.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with Truman Smith and the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hill, Marshal Hill, Bryon McGaha, Richard Costello, Jeff Thiels and Leonard Wicker.

Lessie B. Hodge

TALLULAH Lessie B. Hodge died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Abbeville General Hospital. She was 81.

Born in Goldonna, La., Mrs. Hodge had lived in the Bear Lake Community for more than 60 years before moving to Abbeville, La., two years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Hodge; her parents, Steve and Zona Bedgood; five brothers, Albert Bedgood, Acey Bedgood, Bill Bedgood, Everette Bedgood and Steve Bedgood Jr.; two sisters, Elizabeth Henry and Laverne Beaird; a son, Donald Hodge; and a grandchild, Ricky Hodge.

Survivors include a son, Billy Hodge; three daughters, Mel Roberts of Brownsville, Texas, Barbara Travis of Monroe and Liz Patin of Lafayette, La.; a sister, Iwilla Henry of California; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Revs. Charles Gaston and John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Hodge, William E. Travis, Mike Travis, Don Patin, Mickey Tucker, Ted Harmon and John Harmon.

Mattie M. Roscoe

Mattie M. Roscoe died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at River Region West Campus. She was 92.

A homemaker, Mrs. Roscoe was a member of St. James M.B. Church in Fitler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roscoe; her parents, William and Lockie Fields Fitzgerald; two brothers, William Fitzgerald and Charlie Fitzgerald; and two sisters, Amanda Diggs and Laura Saints.

She is survived by two sisters, Alena Smith of Chicago and Hattie Cole of Vicksburg; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives, including members of the Smith, Cole and Rather families of Vicksburg.
