Helen Allen Bullen
Helen Allen Bullen died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at her home in Fayette. She was 76.
Mrs. Bullen was a Warren County native. She was also an active member of Community Methodist Church in Fayette.
Mrs. Bullen was preceded in death by her parents, William Herbert and Maude Owen Allen, and her sister, Wydell Shiers.
She is survived by her husband, Lucien L. Bullen of Fayette; two sons, Lucian L. Bullen Jr. of Fayette and Robert Bullen of Jacksonville, Fla.; her daughter, Marguerite Gowins of Vidalia, La.; four grandsons, Lamar Bullen, Noland Bullen, Preston Bullen and Matthew Gowins; and her great-granddaughter, Addison Bullen.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Community Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Fayette City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Spencer Funeral Home and from 2 p.m. until the service Sunday at Community Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Bullen, Noland Bullen, Lynn Kackley, John Davidson and Sherwood Lyons Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Lyons and Matthew Gowins of Fayette.
Costello D. Wilson
ROCKFORD, ILL. Costello D. “Deacon” Wilson died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at his home in Rockford, Ill. He was 83.
Mr. Wilson was an Edwards native and grew up in Vicksburg during the Depression.
He was a World War II Army veteran who returned to Vicksburg after the war and lived here until 1963.
Mr. Wilson retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989. An active member of Christ the Carpenter United Methodist Church, he served as Chairman of Trustees and Lay Leader to the Northern Illinois Annual Charge Conference.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curly Wilson and Susan Allen Wilson.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Wilson of Rockford; his daughters, Rosemary Moore of Chicago, and Wanda Hill and Linda Patterson, both of Rockford; and four grandchildren, Jill Smith, Lea Wilburns, Henry Patterson and Amanda Bragg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
