Hazel Warfield Jones

Services for Hazel Warfield Jones will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel M.B. Church with the Rev. Franklin Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Richland Parish Hospital in Rayville, La. She was 76.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the Usher Board of Mount Carmel M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucious “Church” Jones; a nephew, Harry Kline; and two sisters, Eyvonne Earl and Florence Willis.

She is survived by three nieces, Lillian Warfield, Hazel Warfield and Ruby Causey, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Ruby Waites of Chicago; and a great-niece, Angie Causey of Vicksburg.

Velma Dorothy Stanley

OAK GROVE Velma Dorothy Stanley died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Oak Grove. She was 79.

Born in Cooter, Mo., Mrs. Stanley was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newell Cowan and Beulah Gertrude McBride.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Marsh of Oak Grove; three sons, Gilbert Stanley and Arthur Stanley, both of Oak Grove, and Bobby Stanley of Transylvania; two stepsons, Clayton Stanley of Buras, La., and James Stanley of Oak Grove; a stepdaughter, Mary Dunn of Oak Grove; a sister, Ella May Freeman of Deer Park, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Zion Church of God in Oak Grove with the Rev. Bobby Prueitt officiating. Burial will follow at Redwing Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Shane Moody, Jason Minton, David Davis, Jack Marsh Jr., Eric Golden and Bobby Stanley Jr.

Henry E. Stewart

Services for Henry E. Stewart will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Casey D. Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Stewart died Monday, March 1, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 48.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Stewart was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church. He was a 1974 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He had attended Alcorn State University and was a 1990 graduate of Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Booker T. and Perry Lowe Stewart; maternal grandparents, Sylvester Lowe Sr. and Priscilla Irvin Lowe; and paternal grandparents, Elnora Stewart and Henry Stewart Sr.

Survivors include three brothers, Tyrone Stewart of Columbus, S.C., Willie Stewart of Detroit and Paul Alen Stewart of Vicksburg; four sisters, Fredia S. Young, Winnie S. Anthony, Deborah S. Betts and Beverly Ann Stewart, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Odessa Elmore and Ospy L. Dorsey, both of Vicksburg.
