Earnest Hill

TALLULAH Earnest Hill died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 74.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Hill attended Vicksburg Public Schools. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mat Sinking Unit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dona and Willie Bell Hill and Francis Wilson; three brothers, Leon Hill, James Hill and Dona Hill Jr.; and a sister, Martha Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Antwine and Annie Jenkins, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Johnnie Wilson of Champagne, Ill.; grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home in Tallulah. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Evelyn Selmon

PORT GIBSON Evelyn Selmon died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 100.

Mrs. Selmon was a resident of Port Gibson and a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Selmon; her parents, Will and Frances Hackett; and a son, Jake Woods.

Survivors include a son, C.W. Woods of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Barry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Scott’s Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marie Williams

PATTISON Marie Williams died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 88.

A resident of Pattison, Mrs. Williams was a member and mother of First Baptist Church of Hermanville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gettis and Ada Washington; four brothers, Bennie Jackson, James W. Washington, Louis E. Washington and Carl Washington; and two sisters, Katie B. Washington and Louise Washington.

Survivors include four daughters, Virgie Allen and Eristine Washington, both of Pattison, and Mary Taylor and Inez Washington, both of Chicago; an aunt, Stella Jacob of Hermanville; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
