Cody Cannon with Carl Robertson Construction of Brookhaven sweeps the gutters on the west side of the Levee Street Depot Tuesday. The shingles are being replaced as part of the exterior work on the 96-year-old freight and passenger depot, a job that is scheduled to be completed in three weeks. The building was bought by the City of Vicksburg last year for $215,000 as part of a larger waterfront redevelopment project with restoration expecting to cost $423,500. The restored depot will house a visitor center and railroad museum.(Melanie Duncan Thortis The Vicksburg Post)
