St. Al rolls over Bobcats

[4/16/04]St. Aloysius tuned up for its division match on Monday by drubbing Bogue Chitto.

The Flashes dropped only one set in the frontline matches, and had two matches in which they didn’t lose more than two games, in beating the Bobcats 7-1 Thursday at Halls Ferry Park.

Josie Hood led the rout, dominating her girls singles match against Christy Dye, 6-0, 6-0. The team of Carrie and Bonnie Neill also cruised, beating Stacy Lang and Haley Rob 6-1, 6-1 in girls doubles.

Chris Guizerix defeated Cody Dye in boys singles, 6-4, 6-4, and the team of Shih-ting Huang and Matthew Jenkins knocked off Matt Boone and Drew Yawn 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in boys doubles.

Jonathan Reeves won the only match for Bogue Chitto, in second boys doubles. St. Al’s Lauren Fordice and Hannah Ludke beat Mikki Mitchell and Ciatlin Owen in second girls doubles, 8-3.

St. Al will travel to face Enterprise on Saturday, then play in the division match on Monday in Natchez.
