Jesus Jesse Vela

FOREST, La. Jesus Jesse Vela died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital. He was 66.

Mr. Vela was born in Los Angeles, Texas, and was a resident of Forest, La. He was a member of Forest Baptist Church and worked as a deputy sheriff for the West Carroll Parish sheriff’s office. He had served as police chief of Forest for a number of years.

He was a member of the Forest Fire Department and helped in the formation of the Forest Bautista Mission.

Mr. Vela was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathryn Daves, and his parents, Alfredo and Refugia Vela.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Vela of Forest; six daughters, Kay Rush and Cindy Vermette, both of Woodstock, Ill., Terri Bishop of New London, Wis., Crystal Dupont of Plaucheville, La., Teresa Moody of Forest and Sherri Ragsdale of Senatobia; one son, Chris Vela of Forest; a stepson, Barry Vermette of Woodstock; his sister, Juanita Parra of Capron, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Pallbearers will be sheriff’s deputies of West Carroll Parish.

Roy E. Wilson

Roy E. Wilson died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.

Born in Carlisle, Mr. Wilson was a Vicksburg resident. He was a former employee of Grand Gulf.

Survivors include two sons, Edward Wayne Wilson of Utica and Todd F. Wilson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Stephanie Phelps of Utica and Leisa Berryman of Vicksburg; three sisters, Virginia Yarberry of Dallas, Texas, Ruth Curtis of Utica and Dorothy Sweeny of Crystal Springs; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
