Charles William Netterville Sr.

TALLULAH Charles William Netterville Sr. died Friday, June 11, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.

Born in Newellton, La., Mr. Netgraduated in 1954 from Newellton High School. He had lived in Tallulah for 44 years and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 38 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tallulah.

Mr. Neterville was preceded in death by his parents, W.B. and Wenonah Netterville.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Gentry Netterville of Tallulah; a son, Charles W. “Billy” Netterville of Lafayette, La.; a daughter, Debra Lynn Peterson of Destin, Fla.; a sister, Martha Louise Keyes of Newellton; five grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Paul Sabin officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dick Brown, Robert Charles Brown, Jerry McDonald, Dewayne Smith, Dr. Joe Yerger and Leon Minksy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Osborne, Dr. Daniel Edney, Ernest Taylor and Dr. Max Roth.

Memorials may be make to the First United Methodist Church in Tallulah.

Wilson Rush Jr.

Services for Wilson “Goose” Rush Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Mount Alban M.B. Church with the Rev. Joe Cephus Rush officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Sunday until the service at the church.

Mr. Rush died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at River Region West. He was 84.

A native of Warren County, he was retired from Presley Truck Shop and was a member of Mount Alban M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Sr. and Viola Williams Rush; ten sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include a son, Wilson Jerry Rush of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Pamela Rush, Debra Rush and Melissa Rush, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Marie Henry of Richmond, Calif., and Sally Rush Morris of Los Angeles, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Alonzo Singleton

CALUMET CITY, Ill. Alonzo “Candy” “Batman” Singleton died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at St. Margaret Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Singleton was born in Edwards and was a resident of Calumet City, Ill. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his father, Ulyssess C. Singleton and his stepfather, James E. Elmore.

Survivors include his mother, Lucille R. Elmore of Vicksburg; a daughter, Yolanda Singleton of Aurora, Ill.; a fiance, Sandra Barnes of Chicago; five sisters, Alma S. Boyd, Eula S. Brown and Mattie Robinson, all of Vicksburg, Daisy Harbour of Flint, Mich., and Matilda Hayes of Shreveport, La.; four brothers, Elex Singleton of Bovina, John Singleton of Vicksburg, and Ulyssess Singleton and Freddie Singleton, both of Flint, Mich.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Wilbert Smith Sr.

Services for Wilbert Smith Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove M.B. Church Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Sunday until the service at the church.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.

He was a member of Cedar Grove M.B. Church and was a retired plumber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Smith and Elizabeth Franklin Smith; a son, Vincent Smith; a daughter, Doris Jean Caldwell; and a sister, Annie E. Hudson.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Smith of Vicksburg; three sons, Donald Wilbert Smith of Washington, D.C., and Wilbert Smith Jr. and Robert Smith, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Sherry N. Smith of Vicksburg and Rosemary Washington of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Jasper Smith of San Bernadine, Calif., and Dennis Hudson of Vicksburg; a sister, Estella Brown of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
