Hansel W. Stegall

CHANDLER, Texas Hansel W. “Butch” Stegall died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Tyler, Texas. He was 61.

Born in Herkimer, N.Y., Mr. Stegall was reared in Vicksburg. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and Mississippi State University as an electrical engineer. He worked for 35 years in the aerospace industry in Clear Lake City, Texas, in guidance navigation and control on the space shuttle and space station. He retired to Lake Palestine in Chandler, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stegall, and his mother, Pauline Stegall.

Mr. Stegall is survived by his wife, Lillian Torrey Stegall of Chandler; a son, Chris Stegall of League City, Texas; a daughter, Suzanne Rice of Kilgore, Texas; a brother, Joe Stegall; three grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including members of the Josephine Canizaro Head and Torrey families of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chandler.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brent Rice and his brothers-in-law: Jimmy Harrison, Donnie Cool, Buddy Torrey, Vic Torrey and Mike Barlow.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Blue Water Key Homeowners Association.

Joseph Henry White

Joseph Henry “JoJo” White died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans. He was 54.

Mr. White was employed at Central Asphalt Co. He was a member of New Mount Zion M.B. Church and a veteran of the Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Susie Paulding White, and a brother, Leroy Milton.

He is survived by a son, Jarvis Jamal White of Vicksburg; two brothers, the Rev. Willie White of Vicksburg and Nathaniel Ervin of Detroit; a sister, Hattie White Huntley of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
