Samuel Lee Johnson Jr.

PORT GIBSON Samuel Lee Johnson Jr. died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 50.

Mr. Johnson was a resident of Port Gibson.

He is survived by his mother, Isabell Nash of Port Gibson; his father and stepmother, Samuel Lee Johnson Sr. and Dorothy Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, LaSandra Howard of Hattiesburg; six sisters, Elizabeth Ann Turnage of Vicksburg, Ethel Jean Davis and Shirley Johnson-Turnipseed, both of Port Gibson, and Dwana Johnson, Tonya Johnson and Agnes Johnson, all of Phoenix; four brothers, James Johnson, Michael Johnson and Devin Nash, all of Port Gibson, and Cornelius Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Gretta Myles of Hermanville.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Ethel Lee Neal

ST. LOUIS Ethel Lee Neal died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. She was 80.

A former Vicksburg resident, Miss Neal lived in St. Louis. She was a member and mother of China Grove M.B. Church in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” and Ella C. Taylor; a brother, Elijah Davis; and a sister, Willie B. Neal.

Survivors include two sons, John Neal Jr. of Vicksburg and Elijah Neal of Gary, Ind.; four daughters, Deolia Barnes of St. Louis, Susie Johnson of Joliet, Ill., and Starlean Richardson and Ethel Bowling, both of Gary; three sisters, Annie Lee Taylor and Corine Sanders, both of Vicksburg, and Susie Mae Garden of Gary; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Willie Stelivan and Christine Thomas, both of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Albert B. Stevens

Albert B. Stevens died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 76.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Stevens retired from Anderson-Tully after 30 years of service. He was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Stevens of Vicksburg; and cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
