Olin T. Giles

Olin T. Giles died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Denton, Texas. He was 93.

A native of Hattiesburg, Mr. Giles was a former Vicksburg resident and had lived in Denton since 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He retired from the Corps of Engineers with 45 years of service.

He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola B. Giles.

Survivors include a daughter, Frances Susan Giles Borel of Denton; two sisters, Margaret Odom and Minnie Sarah Crawford, both of Hattiesburg; one grandson, David Randolph Borel; and a niece and two nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. John G. McCall, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Kenneth R. Ricks Sr.

Kenneth R. Ricks Sr. died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at River Region West Campus. He was 72.

Mr. Ricks was born in Belle Chase, La., and reared in Union. He had been a Vicksburg resident since 1949. An Air Force veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the grocery business after 51 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Fannie McCall Ricks.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie B. Ricks of Vicksburg; two sons, Kenneth “Ricky” Ricks Jr. of Clinton and Kerry Ricks of Vicksburg; two brothers, Dr. B.L. Ricks of Monroe and Thomas A. Ricks Jr. of Wimberley, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tom Ricks, Dr. Barry Ricks, Dr. Tim Ricks, Billy Ricks, Jefferey Ray, Nason Lollar and Steve Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Nosser, Rusty Nosser, Rowdy Nosser, Jay Tidwell, Larry Cannon, James Hilbun Sr. and Jack Keller.

Troy Lee Williams

LAKE PROVIDENCE Troy Lee Williams died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. He was 90.

Mr. Williams was a resident of Lake Providence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Williams; his parents, Rufus and Mary Adeline Williams; two brothers, Tom Williams and Pink Williams; and a sister, Ethel Williams.

Survivors include a brother, Ira Williams of Natchez; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Larry Sanderson, Codi Sanderson and Rowdy Sanderson, all of Lake Providence.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lanes Ferry Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.

Pallbearers will be Victor Smith, Roland Crymes, Billy Calhoun, Mike Walker, Jeff Moody and Pat Hill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dink Harrison and Bud Moody.

Billy Joe Woodham

Billy Joe Woodham died Friday, June 25, 2004, at his home. He was 62.

Mr. Woodham was a native of Dothan, Ala., and had lived in Vicksburg for six years. A painter, he was the son of the late Bill Edward and Lula Irene Skinner Woodham. He served in the Army and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Sellers.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Thum of Vicksburg and Terri Coffman of Bartow, Fla.; three daughters, Rhonda Tillman and Christine Coe, both of Bartow, and Tammy Hurst of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers, James E. Woodham and Johnny Woodham, both of Vicksburg, and Robert Eugene Woodham of Maine; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Gene Jacks, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Powers, Felecia Powers, Misty Shiers, Oliver Woodham, Dale Thum and John Matheson.
