Emma Bride

Services for Emma Bride will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Mrs. Bride died Tuesday, June 28, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.

A Vicksburg resident, Mrs. Bride was a member of the choir at Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a domestic worker and private sitter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Bride; her parents, Horace and Lela Freeland; a brother, Clarence Freeland; and a sister, Rosie Lee Harris.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Wilson and Roosevelt Wilson, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Gladys Haygood of Inglewood, Calif.; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Priscilla Brown

Priscilla Brown died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 96.

Born in Trenton, Mo., Mrs. Brown had lived in St. Joseph and Tallulah before moving to Vicksburg 32 years ago. She was of the Presbyterian faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Brown; and a son, Charles E. Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Robertson of Vicksburg; a sister, Mary Jo Brenenstuhl of Trenton; 15 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including James Robertson and the Peggy Snow and Dan Marble families of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Lucille Mills

Lucille Mills died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 96.

Mrs. Mills was a member of Rose Hill No. 1, where she was former president of the usher board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Mills; a son, Jake Pempton; her parents, Jesse and Lou Laster; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by a niece, Geneva Phelps of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Charlie Robb of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Volney Lydell Winters

Volney Lydell Winters died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at his home in Vacaville, Calif. He was 69.

Mr. Winters retired as a master sergeant after 20 years of service in the Air Force. He also retired as a health inspector and medic with the State of California after 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Winters Sr. and Gertrude Major Winters-Johnson; two brothers, Henry Winters Jr. and Eddie Johnson; two sisters, Johnnie B. Taylor and Lee Ester Winters; and his stepfather, Walter Johnson.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Merriweather of Cleveland, Ohio, and Arte’Mia Winters of Winnipeg, Canada; two brothers, Clarence Winters of Portland, Ore., and Willie Winters of Vicksburg; a sister, Walterine J. Wildee of Vicksburg; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews; and other relatives, including the Johnson, Winters, Major and Taylor families, all of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
