[7/14/04]A Port Gibson woman admitted Tuesday to burning her longtime boyfriend with an acid-like liquid at his workplace in April.
Aretha Richardson Hill, 41, 1097 Tillman Road, appeared in a Warren County Circuit Court and, in a pre-indictment motion, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with extreme indifference to human life.
The charge indicates that on April 20, Emmerick Hall, 53, 1127 Beechwood Drive in Port Gibson, was burned at Cappaert Manufactured Housing, 6200 U.S. 61 South, where he was an employee. The incident was reported at 10:27 a.m.
Hall was first taken to River Region Medical Center, but was later treated at University Medical Center for second-degree burns that covered 35 percent of his body, including his face and chest.
Hall was in the courtroom Tuesday with visible scarring from the incident.
Hill, who is out of the Warren County Jail on a $30,000 bond, waived her right to go before a grand jury and instead pleaded guilty before the indictment.
A sentencing hearing was set for Aug. 6. The punishment for aggravated assault can include up to 20 years in prison.
