Laura Newman Bryant Emrick

TOMBALL, Texas Laura Newman Bryant Emrick died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball, Texas. She was 85.

A native of Edwards, Mrs. Emrick was a resident of Tomball. She was a member of Edwards Baptist Church and had worked as a secretary with the Corps of Engineers.

Her husband, Gordon R. Emrick, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Marianne Greg, Jeanne Driver and Kay Lowe; two sons, Randy Emrick and Rusty Emrick; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Edwards Baptist Church.

Henry Marsh

LAKE PROVIDENCE Henry Marsh died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was 81.

Mr. Marsh was a resident of Lake Providence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Florence Marsh; brothers and sisters; and a grandson, David Dewayne Marsh.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Marsh of Lake Providence; five sons, Henry Marsh Jr. of Morrolton, Ark., Charles Marsh of Transylvania, Marvin Marsh of Goodwill, La., Bobby Marsh of Lake Providence and Glen Marsh of Bastrop, La.; a daughter, Elaine Williams of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Stowe Harbin officiating. Burial will follow at Reeks Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cook, J. Van Smith, Wayne Welcher, Gene Dye, Eddie Caldwell and Tom Ed Nelson.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Evans.

Lenard Fay Peters

Lenard Fay Peters died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

Born in Crowville, La., Mr. Peters had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1986. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired as a fire chief from the Shreveport Fire Department in Shreveport, La. He served as a deacon and a member of the Grand Adventures Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Oliver Peters of Vicksburg; a son, Robert E. Peters of Vicksburg; a daughter, Sandra Kelly Peters of Vicksburg; two sisters, Floye Harbour of Baker, La., and Winnie Crampton of Meridian; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall and Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Fred Baldwin, David Baldwin, Lee Robinson, Calvin Pugh, Dennis Markle and Tom Hill.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and the Grand Adventures Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

John H. Reed Jr.

John H. Reed Jr. died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 85.

Mr. Reed was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Reed; four sisters, Mattiel Kline, Roberta Brown, Josephine Wolfork and Clara Reed; four brothers, Broden Reed, Robert Reed, Donald Reed Sr., and David Reed Sr.

Survivors include his brother, Walter Reed Sr. of Vicksburg; a niece, Patricia Shelley of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Melvin McFarland, Annie Reed, Gloria Reed and Gladys Reed, all of Vicksburg, and the Lewis, Miles, Walker and Donerson families.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Minnie Bell Young Richardson

Minnie Bell Young Richardson died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home. She was 81.

Born in Hinds County, Mrs. Richardson was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. She was a former pianist at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Sodality, where she served as treasurer. She had been a longtime employee of the Shouphie Habeeb family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richardson; a brother, Walter Moore; and two sisters, Mosella Brand and Murdis Powell.

Survivors include two sisters, Elease Jackson of Edwards and Rosa Mae Dean of Jackson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Norma Habeeb, Ann Habeeb, Catherine Habeeb Stradinger, Gini Habeeb and Rosa Mae Griffin, all of Vicksburg, and Rebecca Habeeb of Tasmania, Australia.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Boykins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 6 tonight at the funeral home.
