Mary Wright Cloud

RIDGELAND Mary Wright Cloud died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 87.

Born in Jefferson County to the late Claude L. and Eunice McPherson Wright, Mrs. Cloud was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and had been a resident of Ridgeland for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Dude” Cloud as well as two sisters and five brothers. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn C. Hargis of Destin, Fla. and Ann C. Lee of Clinton; a sister, Ethel W. Lowe of Clinton; one brother, Clyde Wright of Vicksburg; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with Reverend Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the service.

Ruth L. Griffin

Ruth Lazarus Griffin died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at her home in Vicksburg. She was 98.

Mrs. Griffin was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was the daughter of the late O.L. and Mamie Lazarus. She was a member of Crawford Street Methodist Church, the Annie Bryan Sunday School Class and the Acacia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gorman Griffin; a son, Gorman Glenn Griffin; four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Katherine Griffin and Peggy J. Griffin, both of Vicksburg, and Betty Griffin Davis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday until the service.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews.
