Dan Barnes Jr.
Services for Dan Barnes Jr. will be at noon today at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Alex Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today until the service at the church.
Mr. Barnes died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 59.
He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Waterways Experiment Station, and he was a veteran of the war in Vietnam. He was a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Barnes Sr. and Della Banks Barnes; and one sister, Ethel Barnes.
He is survived by one son, Larry Barnes of Las Vegas; one daughter, Melanie Nelson of Vicksburg; one brother, Willie “Dick” Barnes of Vicksburg; one sister, Minerva King of Compton, Calif.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and others, including members of the Brown Washington Hunting Club.
Willie Lee Craft
UTICA Willie Lee Craft died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at his home in Utica. He was 59.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at White Oak M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica.
Floyce Barnes Kay
PANAMA CITY, Fla. Floyce Barnes Kay died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Panama City, Fla. She was 88.
Mrs. Kay had lived in Vicksburg for 40 years before moving to Panama City 15 years ago. While in Vicksburg, she and her husband owned and operated Barnes General Repair. She also owned Floyce’s Beauty Lounge and was a member of Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Barnes; a son, Don Barnes; and a sister, Louise Riles.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Kay of Panama City; two daughters, Doris Brown and Nita Tancredi, both of Panama City; a son, Roy Barnes of Wewahitchka, Fla.; eight grandchildren, including Warren Brown of Vicksburg; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City. Burial will follow under the direction of Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until the services at the funeral home.
