Mount Olive cruises to 54-20 victory over winless St. Aloysius

[9/11/04]Rob Jones ran for two touchdowns, but Mount Olive jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead and routed St. Aloysius 54-20 on Friday night.
Alex Halinski also scored a touchdown for St. Al (0-3, 0-1 Region 4-1A), and Thomas Escousse kicked two extra points.
The Flashes will host Stringer next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Tensas 21, Briarfield 15
Tyler White threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Tensas Academy to a key District 7-A win over Briarfield.
White completed 4 of 9 passes for 112 yards, including a 76-yard scoring strike to Ryan Borsch midway through the second quarter that gave Tensas (3-1, 1-0) the lead for good. White added a 3-yard TD run with 2:12 to play in the first half to put Tensas ahead 21-7.
Jamie Fortenberry’s second touchdown of the night drew Briarfield (2-2, 0-1) within six points, 21-15, early in the fourth quarter, but Tensas was able to hold on for the win.
Borsch caught all four passes for Tensas, Cody Hill had 10 tackles and a sack, and Mike McWilliams scored on a 9-yard run. Jeff King led Briarfield with 100 rushing yards on 14 carries.
Hinds AHS 36, Raymond 0
Marcus McDonald ran for 109 yards and a touchdown as Hinds AHS hammered archrival Raymond (0-3).
Austin Divinity also ran for a touchdown and recovered a fumble in the end zone for one of Hinds’ two defensive TDs. Albert Williams returned an interception 25 yards for the other.
Percy McGee was 3-for-4 on extra points and kicked a 30-yard field goal for the War Dawgs (3-0). Bobby McGowan caught a touchdown pass from Meredith Burns.
Tri-County 35, SIA 33
Zach McDaniel rushed for 303 yards and three touchdowns, and Sharkey-Issaquena rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit before losing to District 4-A rival Tri-County (4-0). SIA drove to midfield in the closing minutes, but a fumble ended its last threat.
McDaniel scored on runs of 67, 84 and 44 yards, and totaled 13 tackles on defense. Tyler Hankins also threw a pair of TD passes for SIA (2-2, 1-1), one to Seth Brown and the other to Jess Hodnett.
Drew Posey ran for 92 yards on 21 carries for Tri-County, and John Mark Johnson was 8 of 12 passing for 172 yards.
R. Oaks 31, Tallulah Acad. 8
Sam Herman ran for two first-half scores and kicked a 23-yard field goal and four extra points as River Oaks jumped to a 24-0 halftime lead and routed Tallulah Academy.
William King had Tallulah’s only touchdown, on an 11-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter. Jonathan Dukes led the Trojans (0-4, 0-2 District 7-A) with 81 rushing yards on 19 carries.
Rebul 32, CM&I 14
Adam Kitchens had 354 total yards, including 133 rushing, and accounted for three touchdowns in Rebul’s win. Kitchens threw a 54-yard TD pass to Cody Sullivan and a 37-yarder to Jody Bell, and also scored on a 76-yard run. On defense, Kitchens had 11 tackles and an interception.
Bell also had a big night for the Raiders (1-3, 1-1), catching five passes for 78 yards and the one touchdown. He also returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown, scored on a two-point conversion run, went 3-for-3 on extra points, and kicked a 40-yard field goal.
McCall 34, Fair Park 24
Cody Atkins ran for 172 yards and two touchdowns, a 58-yarder and a 9-yarder, and threw a 58-yard TD pass to Fredrick Nunnelly in McCall’s (2-0) win over Class 4A Fair Park.
