Johnny Hollis Sr.
TALLULAH Johnny “Mint” Hollis Sr. died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at his home in Tallulah. He was 69.
Born in Wisner, La., Mr. Hollis was a member of First Kingdom Baptist Church in Tallulah. He retired from Mississippi’s Labor Union Local 145 in 1991.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Marie Carson Hollis; his father, John Hollis; his mother, Edna Williams Brewster; two brothers, Bobby Earl Brewster and Eugene Brooks; and a sister, Jeanette Hollis.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracey Banks of Edwards and Marcie Hollis of Vicksburg; seven sons, Sam Bunch and Michael Turner, both of Las Vegas, Charles Brown of Saginaw, Mich., Craig Phillips of St. Joseph, Willie Hayes of Denver and Michael Hollis and Johnny “Scootie” Hollis Jr., both of Tallulah; a brother, Cliff Hollis of Detroit; two sisters, Ruth MacDaniel of Tallulah and Doris Smith of Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Kingdom Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Toltson officiating. Burial will follow at New Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

INNIS, La. Nancy Jane Snelling
SACRAMENTO, Calif. Nancy Jane Snelling died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, in Sacramento, Calif. She was 60.
Born in Austin, Texas, Mrs. Snelling had lived in Vicksburg before moving to Sacramento. She was a retired purchasing agent and legal secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenn Hal and Jane Starr Moore.
Survivors include a son, William Paul Reese; a daughter, Vicki Jane Bennett; a brother, Hal Moore; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Jane Reese, Britt Wade and Ethan Bennett.
Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Sacramento has charge of arrangements.
