Ruthie Jo Nell Busby
ELLINGER, Texas Ruthie Jo Nell Busby died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in Ellinger, Texas. She was 56.
Born in Bentonia to the late G.J. and Mary Louise Boyde Purvis, Mrs. Busby was a resident of Ellinger. She was a homemaker and was self-employed.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Glynn Busby Jr. of Ellinger, James Gregory Busby of Ledbetter, Texas, and Justin Gabriel Busby of LaGrange, Texas; a daughter, Neldra Faye Busby Motley of LaGrange; a brother, G.J. Purvis Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Barbara Luke and Myran Ogle, of Vicksburg; 22 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas, with Tim Clayton officiating. Burial followed at Chriesman Chapel Cemetery in Deanville, Texas.
Cleason H. Robertson
LAKE PROVIDENCE Cleason H. Robertson died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at his home in Lake Providence. He was 57.
Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Falcon; his parents, Lara Bennie and Vurdice Adell Robertson; and two brothers, Glen Robertson and Billy Roy Robertson.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Sue Robertson of Lake Providence; a son, Yancy Robertson of Jena, La.; two daughters, Teresa King and Lisa Picou, both of Jena; a stepson, Tommy Gary of Oak Grove; a stepdaughter, Tracey Dupree of Oak Grove; three brothers, Jody Robertson and Larry Robertson, both of Shreveport, La., and Randy Robertson of Oak Grove; two sisters, Edwina Harper of Bastrop, La., and Linda Williams of Oak Grove; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with V.W. Hayhurst officiating. Burial followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dave Taylor, Bubba Elee, Lee Toney, Dave Dailey, Jarod Key, Roy Copes and Mikel Williams.
Douglas H. Sheppard
DELHI Douglas H. Sheppard died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
Born in Richland Parish, La., Mr. Sheppard was a resident of Delhi. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the police jury and as a farmer. He was a member of Newton Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie W. Sheppard; two sons, Lynn Sheppard of Henderson, Texas, and Jimmy Sheppard of Tallulah; a daughter, Sherry Walker of Tallulah; two half-brothers, Huey Walters of Vicksburg and Dewey Walters of Natchez; a sister, Lois Allen of Delhi; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newton Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Newton Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Matt York, Ray York, Claude Hosea, Blanchard Monroe, Billy Ray Sikes, Randy Fryer, Ronnie Garrett, Greenlee Copes, Sonny Hosea and Robert Dale Wallace.
