Inocentes P. Figueroa

Inocentes P. Figueroa died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 84.

Mr. Figueroa was a resident of Vicksburg.

He is survived by his wife, Ester S. Figueroa of Vicksburg; 10 sons, Inocentes S. Figueroa Jr., Vicente S. Figueroa, Catalino S. Figueroa, Julius S. Figueroa, Melvin S. Figueroa and Novie S. Figueroa, all of the Philippines, Mariano S. Figueroa of Manila, Jose S. Figueroa of Auckland, New Zealand, Feb S. Figueroa of Vicksburg and Philip Hoyle S. Figueroa of Hong Kong; five daughters, Evelyn Figueroa Somes, Lina Eve S. Figueroa, Mary June S. Figueroa and Febe Figueroa Casco, all of the Philippines, and Lilian Figueroa Ferris of Masterton, New Zealand; 29 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Fisher Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.

Burial will be at Lake Forest Memorial Park in Iloilo City, Philippines, on Nov. 25.

Memorials may be made to Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo City.

Ruth N. Kelly

Ruth N. Kelly died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at her home. She was 81.

Born in Arkansas, Mrs. Kelly had lived in Houston, Miss., before moving to Vicksburg in 1953. She was a homemaker and a member of Bovina Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, C.F. Kelly of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lynda Trussell of Vicksburg and Sondra Swenson of Baton Rouge; a brother, Eunice Gore of Houston; a sister, Dot Alford of Houston; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bovina Baptist Church with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Trussell, Travis Trussell, Russell Standish, Eric Tucker, Jimmy Trussell and Wayne Swenson.

James Albert Layton

HOUSTON, Texas James Albert Layton died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at East Houston Regional Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was 77.

Born in Oak Grove, Mr. Layton was a resident of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hester and Lilla Mae Layton.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Layton of Houston; six daughters, Ann Saucier of Alexandria, La., Edna Jo Sprinkle of Reno, Nev., Deborah McDonald and Darlene Layton, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Bridgette Clark of Tampa, Fla., and Janet Pack of Houston; four sons, Dennis Layton of De Queen, Ark., Gary Layton of Tuscaloosa, Stanley McClain of Hattiesburg and Steve Aaron of Houston; two brothers, Charles Layton of San Antonio, Texas, and Joel Layton of Houston; three sisters, Ruth Prestridge of Pineville, La., Gloria Crawford of Ball, La., and Lois Harper of Oak Grove; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Keith Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Layton, Ryan Layton, Jason Layton, Ricky Layton, Joey Layton and Scott Harper.

Laz Abraham Thomas Jr.

PORT GIBSON Laz Abraham Thomas Jr. died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 42.

Mr. Thomas was a certified nursing assistant technician and a member of Temple of Christ Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Laz Abraham Byrd; a brother, Sylvester Thomas; his grandfather, Bill Jones; and his grandmothers, Comfort Jones and Mary Lee Thomas.

Survivors include his mother, Annie Lee Thomas Byrd; a brother, Otis Thomas of Port Gibson; four sisters, Brenda Thomas, Linda Thomas and Zela Major Johnson, all of Port Gibson, and Genetta Thomas-Davis of Hermanville; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Temple Christ Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Mercy Seat Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Johnnie Ruth Weston

LORMAN Johnnie Ruth Weston died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Claiborne County Hospital. She was 68.

A resident of Lorman, Mrs. Weston was a homemaker and a member of the Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua Alfred Sr. and Esther Weston; and three brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Coleman of Port Gibson; two brothers, Allen Davis Weston and Alphonse Weston, both of Milwaukee; two sisters, Sarah Johnson of Lorman and Gerdia Holloway of Milwaukee; two granddaughters; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Waterloo Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
