MONROE Curtis Dudley Self died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at his home in Monroe. He was 52.
He is survived by his parents, Curtis Self of Pioneer and Mary Dee Self of Monroe; three sisters, Geraldine Eichler of Harrison, Ark., Geneva Bankston of Monroe and Mary Ruth Bankston of Alexandria, La.; a brother, Doug Self of Monroe; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Richland United Pentecostal Church in Rayville, La., with Nathan Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Epps under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Blake Self, Wes Self, Terry Bankston and David Bankston.
Honorary pallbearer will be Curt Self.
Ralph Thomas Speirs Sr.
DELHI Ralph Thomas Speirs Sr. died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004. He was 77.
Mr. Speirs was born in Coffeeville and was a resident of Delhi. He owned Speirs Body Shop in Delhi for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Crenshaw APA76 from 1944 to 1946.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Katie Ruth Speirs; his parents, Eddie Speirs Allen and Thomas Jefferson Speirs; and a brother, William G. “Bill” Speirs.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Speirs of Delhi; two sons, Ralph T. Speirs Jr. of Monroe and Randy Speirs of Delhi; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, including Evelyn Blackwell of Baton Rouge.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Delhi with Dr. Marcus Murphy and the Rev. Milford Walters officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Stroud, Fuller Thompson, Billy Ray Sykes, Bubba Perry, Bud LaPrarie, Bruce Tatum, Lester Harrell and Jim Free.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tendal Jones, Dr. Corey Albritton, Dr. Sam Scurria, Mike Lee, Jack Hawsey and James Roy Walters.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ernest Walton Sr.
Services for Ernest Walton Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cool Spring M.B. Church with the Rev. Byron Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mr. Walton died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at River Region West. He was 72.
A resident of Vicksburg, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Waterways Experiment Station and was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Elizabeth Ratliff Walton; three brothers, William Walton, Joseph Walton and Johnell Walton; and a stepson, Haywood Bracey Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Nailor Walton of Vicksburg; a son, Ernest Walton Jr. of San Jose, Calif.; a stepson, Charles Bracey of San Jose; five stepdaughters, Ruby Hall, Helen King and Bernadine Bracey, all of Vicksburg, and Augustine Boles and Hilda Gleese, both of Detroit; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
