Willie B. Sorells

Willie B. Sorells died today, Jan. 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

A homemaker, Mrs. Sorells was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luster Sorells; a son, Willie L. Sayles; her parents, Stonewall and Annie L. Brown Wade; one sister, Beulah Evans; and seven brothers, Steve Wade, Nathaniel Wade, Robert Wade, Eugene Wade, Charles Wade, Oliver Wade and John Lee Windham.

She is survived by six sons, Billy A. Sorells, Cable L. Sorells, Eugene Sorells of Vicksburg, Stonewall Sayles of Carlisle, Roy L. Wade of Long Beach, Calif., and David Sayles of Gary, Ind.; eight daughters, Christine Burkley, Mary Palmer, Leola Sorells and Rosa Kelly, all of Vicksburg, Lois Adams of Greenville, Marie Mosby of Long Beach, Gracie Johnson of Gary and Susie Sayles of St. Louis; three brothers, Albert Wade of Carlisle, Walter Wade of Long Beach and Willie Windham of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Lillie Smith of Carlisle; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Luetta Tenner

Luetta Tenner died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Tenner retired as a surgical nurse’s assistant from Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tenner; her parents, Willie and Panky White Hayes; two brothers, Jessie Hayes and Willie Hayes; and a sister, Albert Hayes Chatman.

Survivors include a daughter, Ella Hinton of Starkville; one sister, Luberta Hayes Parker of Natchez; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Daniels and Jones families of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
