Willie D. Hazley
PORT GIBSON – Willie D. Hazley died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.
Mr. Hazley is survived by his wife, Rose Hazley of Port Gibson; two daughters, Kimberly Hazley-Lloyd and Wanda Dawson, both of Chicago; four sons, Claude Hazley, Jimmy Lloyd, George Lloyd and Timothy Lloyd, all of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Mary Hernton of Port Gibson.
Services will be Monday at Evans Funeral Home in Chicago.
Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Emma Lou Miller
EPPS, La. – Emma Lou Miller died Monday, April 11, 2005, at North Monroe Medical Center. She was 94.
Mrs. Miller was a resident of Epps, La. She taught second grade at Epps Elementary School for 42 years. She was a member of the DAR and Epps Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Miller; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include one son, Gary Miller of Monroe; a grandson; nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Epps Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Loftin and Dr. John Traylor officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cleveland, Pete Brister, Don Gwin, Mike Hall, David McVay and Frank White.
Honorary pallbearers will be former students and friends.
Memorials may be made to Epps Baptist Church.
Gracie Lou Newton
DELHI – Gracie Lou Newton died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. She was 84.
Mrs. Newton was a longtime resident of Delhi and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delhi.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Orlean Grayson and Nora Gibson Grayson; her husband, Henry Tolbert Newton; a son, Jimmy Wayne Newton; and a sister, Oree Baker.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Newton of Jonesboro and Bryan Keith Newton of Shreveport; two daughters, Mary Lou Heslin of Monroe and Angie Collins of Laurel, Miss.; a brother, Hilburn Grayson of Monroe; two sisters, Hazel Newton of Monroe and Margaret Payne of Talpa, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and friends and relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Delhi with the Rev. Steve Roark and Dr. Marcus Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.
Pallbearers will be Randall Collins, Randy Collins, Billy Ray Newton, Bryan Newton, Glen Newton and Ken Newton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Newton and Jim Newton.
