Monday night in Jackson will be a quasi-Warren Central baseball reunion.

The Newton and Pettway families, whose children have played baseball together for years, will present to see which player is declared the best in Mississippi.

Delta State’s Craig Newton, a senior catcher, and Brian Pettway, a slugger for Ole Miss, are finalists for the Boo Ferriss Award. Newton was a senior at Warren Central when Pettway was a sophomore. Ole Miss junior Stephen Head and Millsaps’ infielder Garner Wetzel are the other finalists. Head won the award last year.
