Warren Central’s girls basketball team opened the State Games on Thursday with a 55-26 win over Choctaw Central at Meridian Community College.

Shakayla Caples scored nine points and Chiquita Wince netted eight for WC.

Choctaw was led by Kristen Steve’s 10 points. The Lady Warriors were playing with their B team while the state champion varsity team is playing in a tournament in Arizona.

The Lady Vikes were scheduled to play Columbia this morning, then Northeast Lauderdale tonight at 7:30.
