Grey’s charge falls short at championships|[6/27/05]

Barry Hassell shot a 76 on Sunday and held off a furious charge from Bill Grey to win the Vicksburg Country Club’s club championships.
Hassell held a four-stroke lead on Grey entering the final round, but Grey’s 73 on Sunday was good for the low score of the day. He finished at 221, while Hassell shot a 220.
Todd Boolos took third and Joe Lindigrin captured fourth.
The top 12 finishers will represent the VCC against Clear Creek in the county championships in August.
Larry Rocconi finished fifth, followed by Jake Dornbusch, Randy Wright, Bob Houser, Greg Clement, Bill Caldwell Mike Caruthers, Lewis Decell and Eddie Buckner.
At the Clear Creek Club Championships, Keith Erhardt shot a 159 to defeat Steve Brown by one stroke.
