Warren Central had more chances than a 50/50 raffle Monday night in Bovina, and fortunately for the Vikings, one of them was the winning ticket.

Kenneth Prince scored on an assist from Kyle Klaus with about 10 minutes to play in the second half for a 1-0 win over Terry.

The Vikings outshot Terry 25-3, had six shots either hit the crossbar or goal post and had several skip over the top of the goal.

&#8220Finishing has to come,” WC coach Jay Harrison said. &#8220We got the one we needed, we got the win and that’s all that matters, but we have to build on the play and put the ball in the back of the net.”

Terry goalie Coty Saranthus stymied the Vikings (2-0) for most of the night. With the play almost exclusively in the Terry zone, Saranthus kept the Bulldogs in it.

Both teams played the game under half a bank of lights at Mlakar Field in Bovina. Before the girls game a breaker blew, knocking out half of the lights. The lights returned soon after, but blew a second time.

&#8220I don’t make excuses,” Harrison said. &#8220We had three breakaway chances that missed. That’s not the lights.”

Warren Central tasted victory for the first time this season behind a four-goal effort.

Kari Lieberman, Mary Clare Scurria, Dana Warnock and Leah McMahon each scored a goal in the shutout. Kris Fischenich had an assist.

The Lady Vikes (1-1) led 2-0 at halftime and scored two goals late in the second half to secure the shutout.
