TALLULAH – Roberta &#8220Beta” Sevier Gandy died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 81.

Mrs. Gandy was born in Tallulah and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired librarian assistant from Madison Parish Library and a homemaker. She was a member of Tallulah Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert &#8220Bo” Wyly Gandy Jr.; one son, Robert W. Gandy III; three daughters, Retta Gandy, Katherine Sherrill Gandy and Sally Gandy; and one sister, Carolyn Sevier Yerger Ratcliff.

Survivors include one brother, Henry C. Sevier Jr. of Covington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ferre D’Cruz officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Rufus Yerger Jr., Henry Clay Sevier III, Thomas Bishop, James Tucker, Joseph Mann, Thomas Favrot Jr., Gary Elkins and Thomas Gandy Jr.

Memorials will be made to the Tallulah Presbyterian Church or Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Harriett Marilla Howe.

KAILUA, Hawaii – Harriett Marilla Howe died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Castle Memorial Hospital in Kailua, Hawaii. She was 84.

Born in Oceanside, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Hugh King Hougham and Ruth Levitt Hougham. She attended the University of California at Berkeley.

For the past 40 years she had been a resident of Kailua, where she was a member of the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle and Hawaii garden clubs. She was among the founders of Christ Church Uniting Disciples and Presbyterians in Kailua.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Alton Howe Clingan and John Hugh Clingan.

Survivors include her husband, Col. Odia E. Howe of Kailua; and two daughters, Nancy Clingan of Vicksburg and Christine Grisell of Indianapolis, Ind.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christ Church in Kailua. Burial will follow at the Hawaii Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kaneohe.

Linda C. Peterson.

MAYERSVILLE – Linda C. Peterson died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 52.

Ms. Peterson was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Mae Knox, and her father, David L. Castle Sr.

She is survived by her son, Jeffery L. Castle of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Gloria L. White of Jackson; five sisters, Verda Clark and Darlean Minor, both of Vicksburg, Betty Carroll of Rolling Fork, Torria Stewart of Mayersville and Geraldine Jones of Chicago; three brothers, David L. Castle Jr. and Freddie L. Knox, both of Grace, and Jimmie L. Castle of Mayersville; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins; and other relatives and friends, including James Kelly of Rolling Fork and members of the Blake, McRunnels, Davis, Tillman, Herman, Knox and Byrd families.

Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Birdie Ree Turner.

OAK GROVE – Birdie Ree Turner died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. She was 84.

Mrs. Turner was a native of Forest, La.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Turner; a daughter, Peggy Moffit; her parents, Albert &#8220Will” and Sarah Davis Dupree; one brother, Clyde Dupree; and one sister, Rachel Nix.

She is survived by a son, Bill Turner of Oak Grove; a daughter, Patricia Turner of Oak Grove; one brother, Ray Dupree of Bastrop, La.; one sister, Katherine May of St. Joseph; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Gayle Riles officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Turner, John White, Guy Wactor, Brad Pevehouse, Chris Ballard and Jeremy Ballard.

Mary F. Young.

Services for Mary F. Young will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Mount Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Tuesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Mrs. Young died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Young was a retired nurse. She was a member and assistant secretary of New Mount Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Young Sr.; her parents, Spencer Jasper Sr. and Mary Davis Jasper; two brothers, Eddie Rankins and Spencer Jasper Jr.; and a sister, Josie Marie Green.

She is survived by her husband, Perry Young Sr.; two sons, Perry Young Jr., of Moss Point, and Larry J. Young, of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
