Mr. Reed died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Trinity Hospital in Chicago. He was 72.

He was born in Peeler, Miss. He attended McEvans High School in Shaw. He was employed with King Edward Cigar Company. He was a member of Mount Ararat M.B. Church in Peeler. He later moved to Chicago, where he was employed with the Village of Winnetka Department of Sanitation for 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wash and Henrietter Reed; and one sister, Rose Mary Brown.

Survivors include Yvonne Cotton Reed of Chicago; two daughters, Patricia Jones and Nicole Reed, both of Chicago; two sons, Roosevelt Reed Jr. of Dolton, Ill., and Calvin Jones of Colorado; two stepchildren, Yolanda Crosby of Chicago and Kim Walker of Lynwood; one sister, Almatha &#8220Puttin” Roberts of Chicago; grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including the Davis, Wilson and Clark families of Eagle Lake and Vicksburg.
