St. Al conquers St. Andrew’s|[3/22/06]

Sarah Franco’s gem propelled St. Aloysius to a 7-1 pasting of St. Andrew’s on Tuesday.

The Lady Flashes’ starting pitcher allowed five hits and struck out 10, and the Lady Flashes used a six-run second inning to put the game away early.

Mary Myers Franco, Annie Beaugh and Sarah Kerut each had two hits.

Amy Beaugh hit an RBI double and Taylor George belted a two-RBI triple in the win.

St. Al (8-4) is scheduled to play at Cathedral on Thursday at 6.

Junior Michael Busby earned his first victory since undergoing surgery on his throwing arm last year and the Eagles held off Oak Forest.

Busby, who is on a pitch count until he is fully healthy, pitched 2 2/3 innings. He allowed one hit and struck out eight. Both LSU and Southeastern Louisiana had coaches scouting the game, PCA coach Randy Wright said.

Dan Ivey replaced Busby and pitched 4 1/3 innings and did not allow a run the rest of the way.

Moose Carney led PCA with two hits, while Ivey had an RBI single. Hayden Hales and Spencer pell also had RBIs.
