Huntsville’s Ron Acuna went 3-for-4 and scored three runs, Jeff Eure was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and the Huntsville Stars routed the Mississippi Braves 12-5 on Monday.

Huntsville scored 12 straight runs after the M-Braves took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. An RBI single by Yunel Escobar and a two-run single by Dax Norris brought in Mississippi’s runs.

Huntsville struck back in the third. Pitcher Khalid Ballouli ripped a single to left followed by a walk to Callix Crabbe. Adam Heether then singled to right, bringing in Ballouli and cutting Mississippi’s lead to 3-1. With first base open, Daniel Curtis walked Acuna to load the bases. Eure then ripped a bases-clearing double down the left field line to put the Stars ahead 4-3, and they never trailed again.

Huntsville stretched the lead to 6-3 on Drew Anderson’s two-run double in the sixth, and it pulled away from there. The Stars scored two in the seventh, three in the eighth and one in the ninth to finish the rout.

The lone bright spot for Mississippi after the first inning was Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s ninth-inning homer to right field.
