Willie Talmadge McHann died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 88.

A native of Ackermann, Miss., Mr. McHann had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He served in the Navy during World War II and worked in construction for 65 years. He was a member of Highland Lodge for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillie Margaret McHann; his parents, Willie Shoffner and Lydia R. Ray McHann; a son, David T. McHann; and a daughter, Sonia Gregory.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ann H. McHann of Vicksburg; two sons, Rodney E. McHann of Vicksburg and David Earl Lee of Gainesville, Fla.; three daughters, Jeanne M. MaHoney of Arlington, Va., Roxie Ann Corbin of Vicksburg and Cindy Lynn Beasley of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Willie S. McHann and Jimmy McHann of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lillian Hanson of Jackson and Ruby Richardson of Yazoo City; 18 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted later under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Memorials may be to made to a favorite charity.

Jerry Dean Walton Sr.

Jerry Dean Walton Sr. died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 77.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served at Fort Coffee, Ark., and was employed at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mat Sinking Unit. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie M. and Ethel Lewis Walton; five sisters, Willie Ree Thomas, Mable Thomas, Farrie Smith, Bessie Lee Brenson and Annie Albner Walton; and a brother, Lenora Walton.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Moore of Vicksburg; three sons, Jerry Walton Jr., Jermaine Walton and Hebrew Walton, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Louis Walton Sr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Eddie Mae Walton of Los Angeles; and other relatives, including Bessie Walton of Vicksburg and the Lewis and Thomas families.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Hill M.B. Church on Oak Ridge Road. Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the hour of service at the church.
