Paul Peter Bellan Jr.

BATON ROUGE – Paul Peter Bellan Jr. died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home in Baton Rouge at the age of 79. He was a retired chemical engineer from Kaiser Aluminum and a native of Vicksburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of LSU and an avid Tiger football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Peter Bellan Sr. and Myrtis Burnett Bellan; and his sister, Virginia Bellan Bogan.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert A. Bogan Jr.; his nieces, Linda Bogan Pippins, Ellen Bogan Lee, Paula Bogan Drone; and his nephews, Robert A. Bogan III and Patrick Bogan, all of Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church, 713 Crawford St. in Vicksburg, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 2 p.m. with Father Patrick Farrell officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Ralph S. Gunde.

NATCHEZ – Ralph S. Gunde died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Magnolia House in Natchez. He was 92.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Gunde was the son of the late Rafe Gunde and Ruby Fried Gunde.

A former resident of New Orleans, he had been a resident of Natchez for several years. He was a retired manufacturer’s representative and a member of the Anshe Chesed Congregation of Vicksburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Aldridge Gunde, and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Anshe Chesed Cemetery with Rabbi Lucy H.F. Dinner of Raleigh, N.C., officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Rosie Marie Selvy Shelby.

Services for Rosie Marie Selvy Shelby will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Center with the Rev. Booker T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Bovina. Visitation will be from 10 this morning until 5 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. Sunday until the hour of service at St. Mary’s Center.

Mrs. Shelby died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at her home. She was 53.

She was a former employee of Vicksburg Trace Haven for 27 years and served as church musician at area churches for 37 years. She was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Michelle Adams; her grandmother, Laura Warren; and her grandfather, Leo Cage.

She is survived by two daughters, Gwen Shelby and Kayleen Lewis, both of Vicksburg; one son, Eugene Lewis of Vicksburg; her parents, Luther and Katie Selvy of Vicksburg; nine sisters, Mary E. Wilson, Minnie Selvy, Betty Allen, Laura Selvy, Algina Selvy, Katie R. Selvy, Mattie Selvy, Monica Hall Hudson and Willia Selvy, all of Vicksburg; three brothers, Henry Selvy, Luther Earl Selvy and Willie B. Selvy, all of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
