Michael Cooper’s extra point following a Stanton Price touchdown in overtime provided the Vicksburg Gators a 14-13 win at Newell Field Friday night.

The two teams were tied 7-7 at the end of regulation. Murrah (2-8, 0-6) scored first to go up 13-7 but the snap on the extra point sailed over the holder’s head and was no good.

Vicksburg (4-6, 2-4) got its shot and appeared to score on third down on Delmon Robinson’s 5-yard run, but the touchdown was waved off and the ball was placed inches from the goal line.

On fourth down, Price plunged in for the score to tie the game at 13-13. Cooper then added the winning point to save Vicksburg from a loss to woeful Murrah (2-8, 0-6) team.

Horace Allen returned a muffed punt for Vicksburg’s other touchdown, erasing a 7-0 halftime deficit.

Cooper had a chance to win it for VHS in the closing seconds of regulation, but missed a field goal with 18 seconds to play.
