Margaret Lawrence Beene.
TALLULAH – Margaret Lawrence Beene died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 85.
Mrs. Beene was the daughter of John and Lenny Lawrence. She was reared in Pelahatchie and attended Hinds Junior College on a basketball and cheerleading scholarship. She was a Tallulah resident.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walter Beene; and a son, Lonnie Jack Beene.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Lawrence Beene and Jerry Paul Beene, both of Monroe; one sister, Lucille Yenni of Kenner, La.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tallulah.
Victoria Elizabeth Boze.
DETROIT – Victoria E. Boze died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Detroit Receiving Hospital in Detroit. She was 93.
Mrs. Boze was born to the late Will and Josie Walls in Redwood. A licensed foster parent, she was a member of Healing Spring M. B. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Will Gaines and Hugh Lee Boze; three sons, Arthur Harvey, Charles Gaines and Lester Gaines; two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by three daughters, Willie Mae Gaines and Genary Harvey, both of Detroit, and Pauline Lewis of Redwood; and other relatives, including, Vepor M. Gaines, and the Lewis, Gaines, Allen, Harris, Gates, Elmore and Truly families of Vicksburg.
Services will be at noon Monday at Healing Spring M. B. Church in Highland Park, Mich., with the Rev. Patrick Franklin officiating.
The family will be present from 11 a.m. Monday until the hour of service.

Jewel Duncan.
Jewel Duncan died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 88.
Born and reared in Greenville, Mrs. Duncan was a resident of Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Lela Brown; three brothers, Jim Brown of Tampa, Fla., David Brown of Saginaw, Mich., and Joseph Brown of Greenville; two sisters, Vester Taylor and Irene Brisco, both of Greenville; and a daughter, Amy Carter of Greenville.
She is survived by three daughters, Alice Mackson of Greenville, Jewel Evans of Chicago, Irene Piggs of Vicksburg; four sons, Willie Duncan of Chicago, Clarence Duncan of Lake Washington, Nelson Duncan of Huntsville, Ala., Lorenzo Baldwin of Greenville; 44 grandchildren; and other relatives, including Christen Ervin of Greenville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Baptist Church in Metcalfe, Miss. Burial will follow under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home in Greenville.
Robert O. Hale.
Robert O. Hale died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at his home in Greenwood. He was 58.
Mr. Hale was a native of Vicksburg and had made his home in Greenwood for 15 years. He was employed by Abraham Trucking Co.
Mr. Hale was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and woodwork.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Allen Hale of Greenwood; four daughters, Jennifer “Jeni” Chandler of Tupelo, Melinda “Mendi” Comans of Vicksburg, Robin Marie Hollman of Southaven and Laura Hale of Greenwood; two sisters, Barbara Parsons and Judy Paxton, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Sonny Hale of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Redbone Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Cowan, Jessie Thomas, Willie Woodruff, Cecil Simmons, Bubba Hale and Poncho Hale.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Fondren, Darwin Hale, Lee Abraham, Alfred Ray Ketchum, Durwood Ware and employees of Abraham Trucking Co.

Minnie Mae Ivey.
PORT GIBSON – Minnie Mae Ivey died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 89.
A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Mrs. Ivey retired from American Paper Tube Co. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Ivey; her parents, Columbus E. and Mattie Mae Beaube; and a daughter, Margaret Roberts.
She is survived by five sons, Tommy Ivey, W.L. Ivey and Leon Ivey, all of Port Gibson, Roy Ivey of Vicksburg and Carl Ivey of Pope; four daughters, Linnie Dillard of Wesson, Katherine Twiner of Hazlehurst, Alice Cranfield of Lorman and Nina Farrish of Brookhaven; one brother, James Beaube of Port Gibson; one sister, Annie Laurie Greer of Vicksburg; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Eddie Maher officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Ivey, Burt Day, Shaun Crapps, Ashley Farrish, Charlie Moore and Ronnie Ivey.
Curley Lindsey.
JACKSON – Curley Lindsey died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 57.
Born in Vicksburg to Coleman Sr. and Lucille Lindsey, Mr. Lindsey attended Bowman Elementary School and Rosa A. Temple High School. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in Vietnam in the 101 Airborne Division.
A former member of Pleasant Green Missionary Church in Vicksburg, he attended New Dimension Ministries in Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Coleman Lindsey.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Fairley Lindsey of Jackson; one sister, Betty Lou Lindsey of Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers, Michael Lindsey of Vicksburg, Ronald Lindsey of Arlington, Texas, Larry Joe Lindsey of Byram and Frankie Lindsey of Houston, Texas; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Westhaven Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Lynn Hill Selden.
PORT GIBSON – Lynn Hill Selden died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 57.
A lifelong resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Selden was a 1967 graduate of Port Gibson High School. She was a school teacher and homemaker and very active in the Hermanville Baptist Church.
She and her husband, John, had been married for 36 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde A. Hill and Mary Stevens Hill.
She is survived by her husband, John D. Selden of Port Gibson; one son, John A. Selden of Port Gibson; one daughter, Holly Setser of Vicksburg; and a grandchild, John Thomas Setser.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hermanville Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael McKnight and Wayne Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be J.O. Carpenter, David Doyle, Doug Salley, Jerry Morgan, Duaine Moore and Allen McCurdy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hill, Carl Hill, Monette Greer, John A. Selden and John Thomas Setser.
