Mattie B. Barber.

TALLULAH – Mattie B. Barber died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at her home in Tallulah. She was 66.

Ms. Barber was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Barber and Mattie L. Barber; two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, Wesley Barber of Tallulah; a daughter, Connie Williams of Vicksburg; three sisters, Martha Ragestar and Earline Barber, both of Tallulah, and Harriet Dean of Dumas, Ark.; and other relatives, including Monica Williams of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Celler Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Ruffus McClodden officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 tonight at Beckwith Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Andrew Bohanon.

Services for Andrew &#8220Bo” Bohanon will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem M.B. Church on Youngton Road with the Rev. Booker T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Mr. Bohanon died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 79.

Mr. Bohanon was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Essie Bohanon; a son, Clayton Bohanon; four sisters; and six brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bohanon; two daughters, Gladys Hubbard of Jackson and Mary L. Bohanon of Chicago; four sons, Jerome Carter of Vicksburg, Bernard Bohanon and Donald Bohanon, both of Gary, Ind., and Andrew B. Bohanon of Atlanta; one brother, Charles Sammie Bohanon of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, including his caretaker Margaret Moore; and nephews, friends and other relatives.

Woodrow W. Cain Jr.

PORT GIBSON – Woodrow W. Cain Jr. died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 63.

A native of Lorman, Mr. Cain was a veteran of the Army. He retired from the Natchez Trace Park Service after 25 years of employment.

He is survived by a son, Woodrow W. Cain III of Port Gibson; one sister, Edie Cranfield of Lorman; one grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Red Lick Baptist Church in Jefferson County with Dr. Charles Gammell officiating.

Hair Loyd Charles Sr.

GREENVILLE – Hair Loyd Charles Sr. died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. He was 67.

He is survived by his wife, Laura M. Charles of Greenville; four sons, Hair Loyd Charles Jr. and Harold Charles, both of Greenville, Robert Charles of Evansville, Ind., and Sgt. Kenneth Charles of Copperas Cove, Texas; six daughters, Linda Bailey of Alps, Inita Charles, Eva Charles, Carolyn Charles, Jacqueline Jackson and Sherry Charles, all of Greenville; five brothers, Willie Charles Jr. and Elijah Charles, both of Gretna, La., David Lee Charles of Jackson, Joshua Charles of Albany, N.Y., and Joe Louis Charles of Kenna, La.; three sisters, Addie Scott of Trenton, N.Y., Nellie Cokley of Dermott, Ark., and Mary Ester Charles of Hammond, La.; 37 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Strangers Home M.B. Church in Glen Allen with the Rev. Charles Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery in Alps, Miss., under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service.

Dorothy Mae Jenkins.

CHICAGO – Services for Dorothy Mae Jenkins will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Mrs. Jenkins died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Jackson Park Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was 71.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Dorothy Jenkins; a sister, Rosie Jenkins; and a brother, Andrew Lee Jenkins.

Survivors include a son, Earnest Jenkins of Chicago; three brothers, Mack Jenkins, James Jenkins and L.C. Jenkins, all of Vicksburg; eight sisters, Minerva Allen, Viola Dixon, Indiana Jenkins, Linda Smith, Josephine Robinson and Eliza McRunnels, all of Vicksburg, Betty Burks of Las Vegas and Cora Thirston of Chicago; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Cook, Davis, Givens, Harris, Kelly, Wiggins and Willis families.

Brenda Joyce Townsend.

BAYTOWN, Texas – Brenda Joyce Townsend died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas. She was 59.

Mrs. Townsend was originally from Vicksburg.

Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Roy Gene Vaughn Jr.

PICAYUNE – Memorial services for Roy Gene Vaughn Jr. were at 11 this morning at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating.

Mr. Vaughn died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, in Hancock County, as a result of an automobile accident. He was 43.

Born in Liberty, Texas, Mr. Vaughn had moved to Tallulah in 1977. He was a construction worker and later moved to Picayune.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Jean Vaughn of Picayune; his mother, Carla Rutledge Hill of Tallulah; his father, Roy Gene Vaughn Sr. of Picayune; two sons, Roy Anthony Vaughn of Houston and Joseph Michael Vaughn of Tallulah; a sister, Carlene Schell of Liberty, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
