Harrison Louis Cox Sr.

NEW ORLEANS – Services for Harrison Louis &#8220Harry” Cox Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Zollinger’s Cemetery on U.S. 61 South.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Cox died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. He was 63.

Born in Warren County, Mr. Cox was a member of Bright Morning Star M.B. Church and the Louisiana Baptist Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Cox Sr., his mother, Fannie Rebecca Cook Cox, five brothers, the Rev. McKinley Cox Jr., Willie Cox, John Henry Cox, the Rev. Elbert Cox and the Rev. Charles Cox; two sisters, Beatrice Cox Chatman and Gloria Marie Cox; and a son, Adrian Cox.

He is survived by four sons, Harry Louis Cox Jr. of Memphis, Emmanuel &#8220Duke” Ross of New Orleans, and Jonathan Cox and William Becks, both of Vicksburg; five daughters, Elizabeth Cox Cosby, Marilyn Jean Cox Graves, Carmen Becks, Velma Becks and Ebonie Cox, all of Vicksburg; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Queen Ross of New Orleans and members of the Cox, Strong, Jackson, Harris, Conner, Studdard and Ross families.

Rev. Donald Goodman

Services for the Rev. Donald Goodman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jubilee Revival Ministries with the Rev. Robert Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.

Rev. Goodman died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 in Vicksburg. He was 53.

He was former pastor and founder of Living Water Full Gospel Church before moving to Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie M. Goodman and Bert Goodman; and his brother, Lottie Goodman.

He is survived by four brothers, Edward Goodman, Larry Goodman, Bert E. Goodman and the Rev. Malcolm Goodman, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Louella Taylor of Vicksburg, Betty James of Carson, Calif., and Liz Carson and Anece Goodman Tolliver, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and other relatives, including Martha and Roosevelt Goodman, Annie Mae Goodman, Lee Otis Stanford and John D. Stanford, all of Vicksburg.

Rogers T. Graham

Services for Rogers T. Graham will be at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Jacks officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Final arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Mr. Graham died at home on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007. He was 67.

Mr. Graham had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1943. He retired from Engineer Research and Development Center, Geotechnical Laboratory where he was a material research and construction technician. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Tennie Graham; and two brothers, Gene Graham and James Graham Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Fran Graham; a sister, Nancy Trueman (Paul); a brother, Joe Graham (Randi); a sister-in-law, Jewell Graham; two sons, Ken Graham (Sara) and Lavon Jeffers (Cappy); a daughter, Lisa Harmon (Bubba); eight grandchildren, Randall Grey (Lauren), Andrew Graham, Josh Graham, Alexa Jeffers, Libby Graham, Isabella Jeffers, Aaron Harmon and Lucas Jeffers; a great-grandchild, Madison Grey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joey Graham, Randall Grey, Duffy Strawn, John T. Johnston, Charles Earl Houston, Ben Luckett and Ricky Pennington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Christ, Jerry Graham, Tom Warnock, L.C. Neilsen, Herbert Stokes, Shane Rowland, Wilford Cockrell, David Jones, Jim Hall, David Goodin, Ronnie Thornton, Bill May, Margaret Hicks, Sandy Redditt and Sabrina Rogers.

Rogers traveled worldwide, retiring after 37 years. One year into retirement, Rogers returned to work part time for Applied Research Association, developing a true and lasting bond with Jim Hall and his co-workers. Rogers was a hard-working man, always sacrificing his own comfort to provide for others. Rogers was a very unselfish, kind, honest and brave man whose qualities treasured most were his dedication to God and his loyalty to and love for his family.

Charles Hall

Charles Hall died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 70.

Mr. Hall was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church in Utica.

Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Carson of Vicksburg; five daughters, Monica Love and Deborah Love, both of Vicksburg, Gertrude Clark of Las Vegas, Katina Williams-Trevillion of Moss Point and Catherine Watkins of St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, Cleveland Hall of Los Angeles and Walter Hall of St. Louis; two stepdaughters he reared, Vita Carson of Hattiesburg and Zita Funchess of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, friends and other relatives, including Chester Whitsey of Long Beach, Calif., and Daniel Lucas of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the Hall Family Cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Earnest Jackson

PATTISON – Earnest Jackson died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 80.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Eliza Jackson; three brothers, Clarence Jackson, Sammie L. Jackson and Leonard Jackson; and two sisters, Sadie McGrew and Dora Mae Jackson.

He is survived by a son, Melvin Carpenter of Clarksdale; three sisters, Fannie Collins and Irene &#8220Pie” Jackson, both of Pattison, and Edith Bailey of Vicksburg; one grandson; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Jerry Jackson of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Burner Baptist Church in Pattison with the Rev. Ray Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at White Hall Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Alford Moody

Alford Moody died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 82.

Mr. Moody was a retired heavy-equipment operator and nightclub owner/operator.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Bobbie Tuckenberry Moody and Evelyn Tuckenberry Moody; a brother, Fred Smith; a sister, Louise Hernton; his mother, Charlotte Harvey Smith; and his father.

Survivors include a daughter, Flora Moody of Vicksburg; and grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

J.D. Myers

Services for J.D. Myers will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Myers died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 49.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ella Mae Myers; two brothers, Robert James Smith and Joe Lewis Myers; and two sisters, Johnnie Lee Mitchell and Helen Lee Smith.

Survivors include his wife, LaKesha Myers; two daughters, Charity Myers and Hope Myers; a son, J.D. Myers Jr.; two sisters, Ella Mae Scott of Saginaw, Mich., and Ida Mae Myers of Vicksburg; three brothers, Herman Myers and Willie Myers, both of Vicksburg, and Matthew Myers of Mainesville, Texas; and other relatives and friends.

Jaylen Jamaal Christopher Porter

Jaylen Jamaal Christopher Porter, infant son of Kristi L. Porter and Quincy J. Miller, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.

Jaylen was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jacurey Miller; his grandparents, Kathleen and James Jones, Tammy Miller, Don Crump and Charles Bracey; his great-grandparents, Charles and Shirley Porter, Josephine Walton, and Emma and Curtis C. Miller; his great-great-grandparents, Bob Porter and Katie M. Harris; and cousins and other relatives, including members of the Harris, Jones, Porter, Grant, Mounger, Nelson, Everett, Bracey, Miller and Crump families.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Lettie Mae Ross

UTICA – Lettie Mae Ross died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at her son’s home in Utica. She was 96.

A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Ross had lived in Warren County for 70 years. She had been a resident of Utica for seven years. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mackie Rushing Freeman. She was of the Presbyterian faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lamar Ross; two sons, Frank Ross and Oscar Ross; two brothers, Percy Freeman and Fred Freeman; and three sisters, Thelma Russell, Idell Beasley and Cebelle Freeman.

She is survived by a son, Dan Ross of Utica; a sister, Mildred Jones of Natchez; and five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Beard, Thomas Beard Sr., Danny Smith, Aaron Carmoney, Oliver Hogan and Ricky Horne.

Lieutenant Wiggins Sr.

SONDHEIMER, La. – Lieutenant Wiggins Sr. died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was 74.

Mr. Wiggins had lived in Sondheimer, La., all of his life. He was employed at River Bend Detention Center in Lake Providence.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Wiggins; and three brothers, Abe &#8220Buster” Wiggins, Henry Wiggins and Perry Wiggins.

He is survived by his wife, Loy Jean Wiggins; four sons, Lieutenant Wiggins Jr., James E. Wiggins and Brendell Wiggins, all of Sondheimer, and Londell Wiggins of Carson City, Nev.; one daughter, Cynthia Wiggins Wright of Vicksburg; one brother, Abe Wiggins of Sondheimer; six sisters, Martha Harris, Mary Givens and Lenora Brown, all of Vicksburg, Irene Scott and Pearline Wiggins of California and Lillie M. Scott of Sondheimer; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Zion M.B. Church on Highway 65 South.

Visitation will be Friday at Brannum Funeral Home, 501 Sparrow St., in Lake Providence.
