Christine Roddey Hays

PORT GIBSON – Christine Roddey Hays died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 81.

Mrs. Hays was a native of Soso, Miss. A resident of the Grand Gulf area, she owned and operated Shady Rest Grocery for many years. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Robert Roddey Jr. and Owen Clyde Hays; a son, Marvin Wayne Roddey; and two brothers, J.L. Moss and S.B. Moss.

She is survived by four sons, Luther Odell Roddey Sr., Buddy Carl Roddey and Paul Linol Roddey, all of Port Gibson, and Edward Robert Roddey Jr. of Ellisville; a daughter, Tina Gomez of Vicksburg; two brothers, G.W. Moss and A.V. Moss, both of Soso; four sisters, Urma Kitchens, Syble Hill, Ruby Shows and Roberta Cantrell, all of Soso; and 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Toby Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Gomez, Joey Gomez, James Roddey, Christopher Roddey, Luther Odell Roddey Jr. and Rubin Roddey.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Moss, Billy Sibley Jr., Teddy Joe McCaffery, Cosme Joe Gomez, T.J. Bates and Randy Braiden.

Quinnie D. Price

UTICA – Services for Quinnie D. Price were at 11:30 this morning at Carpenter United Methodist Church in Carpenter, Miss. Burial followed at Carpenter Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Price died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Belhaven Nursing Home in Jackson. She was 91.

Born in Dentville, Miss., she had lived most of her life in Carpenter, near Utica. She had been a resident of South Jackson since 1989. She was a member of Copiah County Home Demonstration Club and Carpenter United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Louie Ray Price of Brandon; a daughter, Jean King of Jackson; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Anthony Romano

OXFORD – George Anthony Romano died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Veterans Affairs Home in Oxford. He was 75.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Romano attended Culkin Academy and graduated from Raymond High School and University of Southern Mississippi. A veteran of the Korean War, he retired as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 406.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha Roddy and Louis James Romano; a daughter, Susan Romano; three brothers, Louis Vincent Romano, Tommy Romano and Alfred Romano; and two sisters, Mary Alice Gaston and Lucy Lee.

He is survived by his wife, Nelda Romano; a brother, Andrew Romano; a sister, Marie Strong; a daughter, Sylvia Romano; two sons, Joseph Romano and Tony Romano; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus Rosary services begin at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home.
